RIP Butch! I was nine years old when I bought my first album, Beginnings. My brother had Idlewild South and we listened to that all the time. I had some Christmas money when in the mall I saw The Allman Brothers Band Beginnings and found out after I bought it that it contained the first two albums. Yeah Man! I've enjoyed hearing Butch play the drums for well over 40 years. His driving beat has propelled so much of the music I love. His drumming was a big part of why "Back Where It All Begins" is my favorite album by the Brothers. As I write I am listening to a bootleg of Butch playing a drum solo during One Way Out from their March 1973 Mobile, Alabama concert. Thanks Butch. RIP! Vince George Lawn Care Fairhope

Favorite memory is from March 14th 2003 Beacon show... when he came out from behind his drum kit to dedicate Layla to Duane and Tom Dowd. Rest in Peace, Butch.
