Brooklyn FINALLY gets a major leaghe franchise after all these years since the Dodgers moved to to the land of fruits and nuts...

Good for them!

I guess if you consider the Nets "major leauge"

This has been in the works for a couple of years. But if they can't keep Deron Williams - which means trading for/signing Dwight Howard, they will probably be major league in name only. And I'd say the odds are against them getting Howard and keeping Williams right now.

yes, but I still want my Dodgers back

Will be interesting to see how all-out they go

"It's Not New Jersey anymore, now we're in the Knicks' 'hood!"...etc

or maybe taking the nostalgia angle -- "it hasn't been the same since the Dodgers left town, But Now -- The Big Leagues Are Back!!!"

Melo is from Brooklyn originally, that's a reason why he wanted to play in NY -- w/Lin-sanity having taken over at MSG -- Melo is 2nd fiddle -- But Wouldn't Be In The Flatbush (that's slang for Brooklyn right? 'the lords of flatbush')

"...Melo vs. Lin, all the way Brooklyn..."

I dont think the Brooklynd'ers will care if they arent any good or not.

They'll just call 'em "dem bums" and say "wait till next year".

As a current Brooklyner, I don't really care, and am mostly just glad the stadium didn't displace me. The next generation of kids growing up here will embrace the team over time, just as Jets fans grew in the 60s and 70s. I will probably go to a game or two. But I wish they would change the name - I know the Nets started on this island, but if you say "Brooklyn Nets" fast enough, it sounds like what you call a girl who grew up in Kings County. That or a cheer leading squad.

Hope it brings lots of jobs for people....

Hope the Knicks kick their a$$es

Basketball is the one team sport I loathe!!! Was hoping for no pro hoops this year with the lockout. Oh well. I hope they have some good concerts there.

The Nets have dropped a long way from the Days of Dr J
