Has anyone seen the Les Paul-sized 335-style ES-339? They look pretty sweet! I'm a big 335 fan & it would be cool (but dangerous to my wallet!) to try one of these out:

...maybe after I finish paying for my T5!

Cool! Right around $1,800.00. Are the f-holes painted on?

is it smaller than an ES-336? the 336's are bad little guitars.

I'm thinking it's the same size as a 336 but is semi-hollow instead of being hollow like the 336. I'd love to try one out. The one thing I don't like is that they are selling them exclusively through Musisan' Friend (i.e., GC) through the rest of this year. I assume that means other dealers will get shipments in '08. I don't know why Gibson is so interested in squeezing the little guys.

if you're patient they'll show up on ebay in time for probably less than MF. if it's one of those one's you've just got to have well.....
as far as gibson and MF(GC) i know you've seen this thread:

I'm quite keen to try one out, if anything to compare with my 336. You're right about them being bad little guitars - I love mine! I have to say I thought the 336 was semi-hollow anyway unlike the 335 which is totally hollow. I might be wrong though but relatively I have much less problems with feedback playing hi gain with the 336 compared to the 335. Hmmm!

Anyway just to pimp 336s, here's a vid of mine from a gig a couple of weeks ago. Love it!

slidejules, the 335 is and always has been a semi-hollowbody.

You're right - what I meant was the 336 has a bigger chunk of wood down the middle of it than the 335, and I'm assuming the 339 has a similarly small amount of wood inside it compared to the 336. Sorry, I was wrong in my use of words!

I found this earlier which may or may not confuse things more, when comparing a 336 to a 339:

"Different construction.

336 is a carved mahog back with maple cap. Closer to a chambered LP with f holes.

339 is plywood with solid maple center block inside."
