Yes...watched this the other night. Good stuff Stewart usually captures things pretty well. And he holds a pretty good interview too.....cuts to the heart of the matter. I would enjoy seeing him host a debate.

..just watched this again. He was on fire here! As one of the commentators remarked, it is cogent rhetoric that cuts right to the core of the absurdity of the right.

I still find it unthinkable that Romney would mention that 47% pay no income taxes while 49% receive some type of direct payment from the government, when 47% pay no income taxes while 49% receive some type of direct payment from the government. Unbelievable!

This is a sustainable model, of course. No problem.

You could start by instituting those death panels you once railed against. Whack a few million elderly folks and vets and that would take the strain off the producers, wouldn't it?

What about those in those percentages that are Republicans? You giving them a waiver?

He's already stated that his 47% comment didn't include these folks, as if it really needed any clarification. Exclude the drama queens and most people already knew what he was talking about.

Who specifically makes up the 47% that Romney was referring to? I'm really curious to know who you have so much disdain for. Specifically.

Specifically, those who believe the spending path we're on is sustainable or acceptable, and not DEMANDING that we get our house in order and start doing it NOW.

My interpretation of the question Bhawk asked you referred more to demographics or segments of the population - examples: veterans, those 62 and older, those earning less than $20,000 a year, etc. If I am wrong, he can correct my interpretation.

Your answer was general in nature.

Does Stewart ever do a skit on Obama's actual performance and the actual results we're getting as a result of that performance? I can't imagine he's too impressed. If so, what do you suppose he'd point to that we want four more years of?

Thanks for helping me understand. But, since Romney's comment wasn't referring to any of those groups specifically the question is meaningless. The answer I provided is truthful as can be and will have to stand. Fully aware of what Bhawk seeks to do. Please feel free to play word games an gotcha with someone else. Ain't falling for it.

The exact quote...

“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the President no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax …

“My job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

You are the one that said "Exclude the drama queens and most people already knew what he was talking about."

So, tell us since you seem to know, who was he talking about? Who are these 47%?

None would be military or elderly, which is who Bhawk originally alluded to and to whom I based my original response on.

All I asked was who he was including, and by your vehement defense of Romney, I merely asked who he was referring to, or who you are referring to.

Word games? Gotcha? You can't even stand on your own words? Good Lord.

Interesting response.

When I read Bhawk's question I thought it was pretty clear & evident. The answer should be very black & white (i.e. - factual). Maybe you don't want to go on record with a specific response because there's little anyone can provide to support Romney's 47 percent calamity.

I totally disagree with your interpretation that "Romney's comment wasn't referring to any of those groups specifically". He knows fully well who he was referring to in the 47 percent statement. And if he doesn't , than I give him far too much credit. If he doesn't, then he shouldn't be on the ballot. Take your pick.

See, I never made any claim or statement dealing with "who he is referring to." I responded to your post which specifically mentions vets and elderly and I responded with regard to said groups only, but feel free to twist it into what you want it to be.

So the actual % getting any gov't assitance would either be much higher if you add in vets & elderly or Mittens lied (again) and the percentage should be lower . And I'm guessing you didn't bother watching the entire video since Stewart pointed out a way you easily can lump Mittens into that % of people getting govt. assistance . One of my favorite lines of the piece , "I wish we had a poster boy for this part of the moochacracy ! ( shows Mittens picture) Oh Yeah , Right ! " I'd love to show this clip to a room full of Faux News watchers & then watch as their heads explode !
