If tonite's announcement that Gregg has Bronchitis is for real, wouldn't that put the run in serious jeopardy? Typically, recovery time for Bronchitis is 10 to 14 days. Considering the historical significance of this run and the investment of many fans in tickets, could this really continue for five more shows without Gregg?

Plenty of high quality able-bodied guests and friends will assist, and I am sure Gregg will be able to tough out a few more numbers.

If tonight's show is any indication, the run can continue while Gregg recovers from bronchitis. The Friday show was tremendous.

Can't believe the posts im reading... i have been a bros fan for 36yrs with over 80 shows under my belt just at the Beacon run since 89.... How can it be a bros show without Gregg singing and playing his b3 hammond... Sure the band can cover up and play songs not made for Gregg but how do they play the ones that are his ??? By filling in with guest keyboard players and even worse a guest vocalist (susan tedeschi or whom ever else ). How sacrilegious is that....

Just found about this now and im sorry for Gregg and wish him a speedy recovery but i will be pissed off if they continue if they know he can't play. I have 2 more shows one is the 45th anny show on the 26th. Hope he recovers by then if not i will be selling my seats and will savor the memories of the 2 shows we saw this run before he got sick. Because i will not let my last beacon run memory be without Gregg playing his one way out the door..

Best wishes for Gregg to get well soon. This is certainly not his fault, and no one is to blame.

On the other hand, me and my buddies have spent a small fortune on tickets, flights and hotel to see the Beacon shows on 3/25 and 3/26. Derek & Warren are phenomenal, but it's not the Allman Brothers without Gregg's voice and organ. I wouldn't have chosen to spend all this money had I known Gregg wouldn't be there.

If Gregg's going to be absent for the rest of the run, the ABB needs to make an announcement soon, and state if they will be refunding tickets, rescheduling shows, or bringing in Eric Clapton for complete performances of the Layla album? They can't just expect ticket purchasers to come to the next five shows without Gregg, and not offer something equally spectacular as a substitute.

I also wish Greg a speedy recovery and peace from the stress of this happening to him at such a horrible time. What I am really enjoying is the greed of the people who bought tickets for resale and then marketed them through stubhub and many other sources now finding out they can choke on their scam and now get a fraction of what they thought tickets where worth being that the fans really want to see the band as a whole, not random guest playing Allmans part...
Karma is a motherf$cker and maybe the scalpers can lose out on their investment scam being there are 4 or 5 shows left for them to feel how we all did when we tried to buy tickets the legitimate way and got zero, 14 shows less than 30 seconds after they went on sale and nothing available?
Eat your tickets stubhub, vivid, ticket scam now,etc....

I agree, they need to make an announcement.

Realistically, there is not going to be a Clapton or Winwood substitute. Logistically and financially I bet that's not an option.

I am sure Warren would have no shortage of ideas and they could/will put on some great shows.

Really, it is up to people to decide if they want to go and have a good time or not and I think the Best Way the band can compensate their fans right now is to finish the run and make an announcement asap on Gregg's availability so people who want to sell their tickets can and those who still want to go can do so. What more can you do?

I would still go. I'm stuck in Atlanta and there is nothing more I would like than to spend a weekend with buddies at the Beacon even without Gregg.

It's probably a day to day thing - they may not know if he'll play tonight until later today, although I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him until Tuesday.

If I had bought tix, made travel plans and had hotel reservations, I would go even without Gregg. Of course, I'd rather see him there behind the B3.

Get well soon Gregg!!!!

Just got an email re tonight's show:

Dear The Allman Brothers Band Ticket Holder:

"Please be advised that, due to illness, Gregg Allman will be unable to perform on Saturday, March 22. The Allman Brothers Band will perform as scheduled. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to your continued patronage of The Beacon Theatre.

All remaining shows will go on as scheduled.

Sincerely,
Madison Square Garden Entertainment"

i agree its not the same without gregg but after ALL the money the fans have spent why
say Clapton or Winwood substitute, financially that's not an option!?

if they were also actually interested in doing the right thing any sub can also afford to perform for free (although i realize that is probably also not realistic unfortunately)

also not sure why all the negative susan posts-name me one other chick who Both plays gtr and sings like her!?

"Gregg Allman will be unable to perform on Saturday, March 22. The Allman Brothers Band will perform as scheduled."

That's an inherently contradictory statement. Gregg Allman is the signature voice and essence of the Allman Brothers Band. It's not the Allman Brothers when there's no Allman there. Sorry, Devon doesn't count.

And where is the part that says "Call Ticketmaster for a full refund" ?

I was at the show last night, and believe me, it was still the Allman Brothers. Yes, Gregg is the namesake, but when you think about it, his singing accounts for about 5 minutes of a 2.5 hour show. I would be bummed if I spent a lot of money to see the band, but I don't think anyone left last night's show feeling disappointed.

Wishing Gregg a speedy recover but make no mistake...the band made up for his absence in spades. Susan's growl and angry guitar redefined The Sky is Crying...Warren, Derek and Oteil looked like they were having the time of their lives. Unbelievable set list. This was a different, but GREAT, show.

Wow really nice of Jim Dolans empire to release a statement apologizing for Greggs abcence.

HOW ABOUT DOING THE RIGHT THING AND OFFERING THE OPTION FOR A REFUND TO THE FANS.

Hey wait Jim Dolan is the same jack ass billionaire that kicked the ABB out of their house (beacon)
that year for a god damn french circus THAT NEVER PLAYED ONE SHOW.... Also same jack ass that has run the Knicks and Rangers into the ground

Remember we all had to trek way way uptown to that **** hole united palace theater. We all had to drink warm lousy beer and sit in that rat hole. DOESN'T ANYBODY REMEMBER.

Never forget the next year when Dolan knew he messed up and Gregg made him publicly apologize during the tv interview.....

I have not posted a negative comment in this forum thus far. With that said I was highly disappointed last night. Not the show I was hoping for. Circumstances aside, it was good, not a great show. Believe me I was in the right frame of mind for their song selection and jamming last night. There were about 3 times when the guitar playing really got downright sick and just kicked ass but overall there was a loose okay what do you want to do next type feel to the show. As a Dead fan and heard them play Franklin's Tower into Blue Sky years back so that was a highlight for me last night. This time doing a Turn on Your Lovelight teaser. Wish Warren would have rocked that one out and sang the whole song not just 2 verses by Oteil and Susan and back to Franklin's. Maybe I'll appreciate last nights show more after I listen to it again.
Didn't realize I would miss Gregg as much as I did. Not sure what to hope for tonight but will go with an open mind. Hope they get crazy nasty tonight!

I did. I know it was 'unique' and the remaining members and guests played their asses off. For me, I was disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyed some moments and overall entertaining, but not nearly on par with my first three shows. Just my two cents.

I was at Friday night's show and I honestly wish they would have given the option of a refund.

There were certainly high points to the show. But without Gregg it simply is not the same band.

The option of a refund is a gesture to the diehard fanbase who have paid a chunk of change per ticket.

Was it coincidence or suspicious that TicketMaster had lots of tickets for sale yesterday for last night's show and early next week? I smell something ......

"Mick Jagger will be unable to perform tonight. The Rolling Stones will perform as scheduled"

"Dave Matthews will be unable to perform tonight. The Dave Matthews Band will perform as scheduled"

"Bono will be unable to perform tonight. U2 will perform as scheduled"

Say what? And there is no refund?

I think a refund should be offered.

I wouldn't take the refund. I'd go to the show.

Seen ABB 60+ times. Went through all the BS with Dickey missing shows years ago, but to go on and continue this final run of shows on their last year without Gregg is not fair to any of us die hard fans. Fortunately, Its only a few hours away to drive to the Beacon for me, but how many have spent crazy money for tickets, airfare, & hotel only to arrive and see Gregg not be there. No guest, no matter how good they are will ever compare to Gregg! Do your fans a favor, show some respect to them and reschedule the rest of the shows!!

I understand the frustration but let's be serious. Any ticket you want to sell either through a scalper or here will go at face in about five minutes.
