Hey folks, next few days there's many opportunities to see the ISS *very bright*, and often, since it will be in a lot of sun the next few days. Put your zipcode into the link to see when it passes in your area.

Enjoy.

Peace.

Atlantis undocked today and is due home Fri. The link I posted above is for my town. If you want to get your exact times/directions, go here and put in your state/city (or back up one to enter country):

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/cities/skywatch.cgi?country= United+States

ABB related: prior to the outdoor, uncovered Chastain shows in 10-08, I checked and the ISS was set to go over ATL early in the first show. I had some folks amazed as it went over during the first song of the first show. Totally cosmic!

Love to see this. Thanks for link. Westcoast is coated and I mean coated in clouds for the past while. West Coast of Van Isle is getting 100 mm rain a day easy.

Happy Thanksgiving y'all - another chance to see it in around 18 mins. from now (in the SE) ... it's REALLY easy t see - very bright, very slow, AND one-chasin'-the-other (almost like an **enormous** line-segment crossing the sky - VERY cool).

Peace.

look 6:39 in the SE, coming from the NNW ... like a giant tourbus in the sky ...

I'm ready and have my cellphone clock in hand for accuracy. 6:41 here in GA for the ISS and the shuttle at 6:42. Should go directly overhead, shortening the distance of the view.

last night: approx. 3 degrees apart (2.5 fingers at arm's length)

tonight: about 20 degrees apart (distance b/t thumb and pinky stretched-out)

Very cool again! (i liked last night better; closer together looked more like a large craft) <---- speaking of which, satellite arrays (3 or 5) are REALLY cool to watch fly by! full-on ufo-look.

Peace. (now to roast my chestnuts near an enclosed fire! - it's nasty out there)

well i really thought I could make out the shuttle...it was a little tough..i should have brought out my telescope..

what struck me was the way they just floated so smoothly..

when i told her what i was doing, Lee Ann laughed..but she came out with me and was blown away as well..

TWO SPACESHIPS: A Russian Soyuz TMA-16 spacecraft carrying three astronauts is converging on the International Space Station. Docking is scheduled for 5:54 pm EST on Tuesday, Dec. 22nd.

Sky watchers with Tuesday evening flybys could see the two spaceships in close proximity. Check the Simple Satellite Tracker to find out if you are favored with an overpass.

Simple Sat. Tracker: http://www.spaceweather.com/flybys/?PHPSESSID=c8ru3vuvtvokd7115oaicb4p92 click that, enter your ZIP code and check the times, etc.

DOUBLE FLYBY ALERT: Space shuttle Endeavour's two-week mission to the ISS is almost finished. The two spaceships are scheduled to undock tonight, Feb. 19th, at 7:54 p.m. EST. This is good news for sky watchers, because there's nothing prettier than two bright spaceships traveling side-by-side through the night sky:

Ethan Tweedie of Pottsboro, Texas, took this picture on Nov. 25, 2009, shortly after space shuttle Atlantis had undocked from the ISS--the same position Endeavour will be in tonight. "It was quite a sight!" he recalls.

Double flybys will continue through Sunday, Feb. 21st when Endeavour returns to Earth in a rare nighttime landing at Kennedy Space Center (10:16 p.m. EST). Check the Simple Satellite Tracker to see if you are favored with an apparition.

Should be some decent, but not great sighting opportunities this weekend into next week. Put in state and city to get your specific times and directions.

Had ex US astronaut Jerry Linenger speak to our dealer group meeting last week in Chicago. He spent 5 months on the ISS and told some harrowing tales about his adventures in space with 2 Russian cosmonauts who spoke no english. We were all given a copy of his book Off The Planet which is a great read.
