I have had the Mule's version of "She Said, She Said" stuck in my head for about a week now, even hearing it in my sleep. Why? Help!

It's such a powerful version of the song. Love it!

Who put all these things in my head? It's driving me mad...

Hell, it could be worse! It's a hell of a good song. And a hell of a good cover of a hell of a good song. Just give in to it. Try to learn to play it on an instrument or something.

She said "I know what it's like to be dead,
I know what it is to be sad."

And she's making me feel like I've never been born.

verse

I said "Who put all those things in your head?
Things that make me feel that I'm mad,

And you're making me feel like I've never been born."

B A B

She said "you don't understand what I said,"

A

I said "No, no, no, you're wrong."

E A E

When I was a boy everything was right,

B E

Everything was right.

I said "Even though you know what you know,
I know that I'm ready to leave,
'Cause you're making me feel like I've never been born."

She said "you don't understand what I said,"
I said "No, no, no, you're wrong."
When I was a boy everything was right,
Everything was right.

I said "Even though you know what you know,
I know that I'm ready to leave,
'Cause you're making me feel like I've never been born."

She said "I know what it's like to be dead,
I know what it is to be sad..."

It's fairly easy to play. Peachflower, I remember seeing the Mule open for the Black Crowes in Charlotte before Dose came out. It was incredible. Great set and just amazing sound. Way, way better than the Crowes who in addition to sound problems had Chris Robinson showing his ass in a major way. Anyway ... the Mule played "She Said" and "I Shall Return" from the upcoming Dose which were the highlights. They stuck with me until months latter when Dose was finally released. "I Shall Return" is a great underappreciated and under played tune by the Mule. Davi Hildago's solo on the Deepest End CD is worth the price of admission IMO.

I agree about I shall return. I have no idea why it is so underplayed.

Yes! "I Shall Return" is definitely a standout song on Dose.

I read that the Beatles wrote "She said, she said" from quotes made by Peter Fonda (Easy Rider) when they were all tripping together. Fonda was trying to tell them about a childhood trauma when he shot himself (I think that's what it was). And the other guys (Beatles) wanted him to stop talking about bad stuff while they were tripping on such a nice sunny day in S. Calif.

They were telling him to shut up and he said "You're making me feel like I've never been born."

"I know what it's like to be dead."

Etc.

That is correct.
Etc.
