I've gone back on an Eric Clapton kick. So...this thread is about...you guessed it. ERIC CLAPTON! Feel free to discuss Eric's life and music, amiably of course.
As most of you know I love photos. So that's how I'm going to start out the thread.

I'm so glad that he has come out on top of all the turmoil he has faced over the years.
He is a true legend.......and deservadly so. I've seen him quite a few times over the years and always walked away satisfied and feeling good. I was at the second night of Clarton last year at the Beacon and all I can say is WOW ! It was one of, if not THE best show I've ever seen. |

(((Mitzi))) My sweet Angel sista! Eric is the one who brought me to the ABB via Duane on Derek & The Dominoes. I grew up on Eric Clapton. He has brought me so much great music and was the one who made me research my true love - the blues. Without him I never would have seen Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, etc.
I have a mosaic of EC playing Blackie in my music room. I drew it all out and had my girlfriend, Carrie, who makes mosaics, do it in black, white & mirrored stuff for the notes & music staff. The opening riff to Layla is incorporated in the mosaic. My brother looked at it and said, "Those aren't the notes Eric plays, he plays a, c, d, f, d, c, d. (He can barely read music and was thinking of the way the notes look an octave lower.) I said, "I know, those are the notes Duane plays, an octave higher - they look different." He just smiled, and said, "cool."
Layla is also the ringtone on my phone. Layla has been my favorite song since I first heard it circa 1971.
My brother (John) gave my son, Billy (you met him at Red Rocks 2008), a custom black strat that looks just like Blackie and an amplifier, when Billy decided he wanted to learn how to play. Play the Blues is inscribed on the head to the right.
Here is Billy, 4 years ago, with his strat. Now his hair is to the middle of his back, but other than that he looks the same. He's a Clapton fan for life.

Everything my sister Kitty said, except I don't have a mosaic nor do I own a cell phone. But I'd like to get that new one Clapton is advertising. My brother (John) didn't give my son Mike a Strat, but he's got Les Paul.
Eric and Duane!! Layla was a match made in Heaven. Thanks goes out to Masahiko for the live remaster.

Clapton is still one of the guitarists I try to learn from. Derek and the Domino's with Duane is one of the greats albums with regards to the over all guitar work. |

Nice pic of your son, Tom. My brother has a Les Paul - he just didn't give it to my son - can't say I blame him. ____________________ Front feet doin' the shuffle, back feet too, love them good ol' Georgia blues
