already got a Hoffner bass,a Strat & a jr. copy Strat,& a Fender & a Hondo accoustic....

the new one is a beautiful,ESP-LTD EC-100QM---anyone own or know anything about this guitar?
i tend to buy & then study later...

it felt so right & sounded so clear & smooth--a phatter sound than strats which i've played my whole life & seems to have a superb tone....still using a Rolan Micro cube amp....

The ESP will sound fatter than a strat. humbuckers vs. single coils.

The humbuckers on ESP are fairly hot pups. The metal heads like them.

ESP has models featuring KirK Hammett, James Hetfield, and George Lynch.

although George has his own model of Duncan "Screaming Demons" humbuckers that he uses on his ESP guitars.

The dudes in Queensryche play ESP also.

the model you mention is entry level with a basswood body, more expensive models have nicer tone woods.

BANG YOUR HEAD!

One major difference from a Gibson Les paul is that it has a bolt-on neck instead of a set neck. Here is a quick read of a thread abuot this very topic:

http://www.tdpri.com/forum/bad-dog-cafe/88427-bolt-neck-vs-set-neck.html

From my persepctive, the biggest difference between the two types is that bolt-on necks are a lot easier to adjust if you begin to have problems with playability or intonation. With a bolt-on neck you can make shims to adjust the angle and simply slip the neck on and off to do so. Set necks need to be heated and pushed apart from the body, then refitted with shims; in short- it is alot more intrusive.

I have always heard good things about ESP guitars. They are better known throughout the world of guitar shred style music. I think of Metallica, Dream Theater, Living Colour, Limp Bizkit (I know they played Ibanez), but this style of music. I say go for it.
