Any plans thus far for any pre show get togethers in Macon?

I am fortunate that alot of my close friends enjoy the Allman Bros nearly as much as I. That said though, that means most Allman concerts in Atlanta, as well as going to Wanee, are a large production that involves getting everyone together, always a blast, but unfortunately it means alot of the time it means I miss out on meeting up w/ folks from this site and the extended ABB family. Well since all my "boys" just went down to Wanee with me last weekend, they won't be making the trip to Macon. Just my wife, Cheryl, and I are headed down to Macon and I am hoping we make it to town in time to enjoy a little pre-show w/ some of the fine folks from around here if anything is in the works. I know alot of people are staying at the Ramada Plaza and I had considered hitting the lounge there pre show, since it is right down the road from the venue, if there is nothing else going on (the lounge use to be called "the Big Easy" or was it "the Speak Easy", either way I have had many a fun time there during stays at the hotel).

yeah, I thought I'd see you at Wanee Ryan one time at the Hilton, but again, no luck. I'll look for you this time. You could also bring your friends by a gathering of the tribe one time...we don't bite.

Oh I know and you're right Tim. We had 10 camping w/ us this year (plus others checking in w/ some other sites through out the weekend), a few of the guys don't live around Atlanta so I don't see them that often, so between catching up w/ everyone, going to the river, the peformances, and just generally having a ball, the weekend just got away from me before I even realized it. Damn thing was I went down there w/ the full intention of spending some time at the Hilton this year and I dropped the ball again.

Either way though, no good excuses and I hope to make up for it in Macon. So any word on where the party is (pre-show at least, I know where the post show party is)?

Well it look's as though we'll be checking into the Plaza tomorrow and then heading over to Atlanta for the Braves. I'll have a full day in Macon come Friday. Might eat at the H for 3 days.

I think Brock is hosting at a place called the Rookery?
We're going to need a bite before the show, sounds like a good idea.

So the Rookery is the place? Sounds like Brock, Bup, and Rusty (as noted in other thread) are going. Here is the link Brock mentioned:

http://yellowpages.mapquest.com/business/ga/macon/Rookery/0 -103723083/?query=the%20rookery&icid=oneclick_mapquestyp&invocation Type=oneClick.freelisting&flv=1

Tim and Wayne, y'all going to try to get by there? Cheryl and I have to take our daughter over to my parents house and then we should be hitting the road, hopefully pre the start of Atlanta Friday traffic, with the mercy of that we will plan on getting by the Rookery for some drinks and food. Anyone else planning on getting by there? Were there anyother big pre show plans?

Unfortunately I don't think we are going to do the post show party at Grant's, I don't know if I can sell Cheryl on that much more music after what will hopefully be an epic Allman's show, but hey we'll see. Either way I am sure we will be up for some partying post show as welll.

Ryan, due to a last minute executive decision (wait-how can it be an executive decision if you're unemployed? LOL) I'll be there....can't wait to see ya'll again and see the ABB in their spiritual home of Macon. Ga. My first time there....I've been looking forward to this for a LONG time.

Your first time, Rich? Wow.
Give yourself a little extra time. It can be a bit overwhelming emotionally, for those of us that go way back.

It will be good to see you again.

Thanks so much, Randy. I am SO looking forward to it....I'll be getting in Friday afternoon and will be hooking up with TanDan for a tour of Macon. It'll be a spiritual pilgrimage, for sure.

looking forward to seeing you too, Bup!

Ryan, Rich is meeting me at the I-20 exit in Aiken and we are driving in together, should be there early afternoon. I am wide-open as to having any plans, I am sure I will be following the crowd!

John mentioned to me that maybe a member of the band will be at the grand opening of the Big House at 2:00, and it is also mentioned in an article in the Macon papaer this morning, so that would be a cool thing to be at.

I am ready, and thanks again John!

Right on Wayne. However I know that we won't be in town by two, unfortunately, otherwise that would be cool to attend.

Wayne,

Hoping you and Rich will have a nice ride and are able to "catch up" on each other in the morning

Take the Camak exit off I-20 to Macon instead of Eatonton. It will save you some time

So is the ribbon cutting ceremony and jam on Friday or Saturday? I'm confused.
