Hey guys..I was hoping you could keep the family of Burt Hood in your prayers..
SOme of you from these parts know Burt..he has played in several bands (i think once or twice at a JFD) and is from Fort Payne, al.

Tragically, Burt was killed today in a one car accident.

He leaves behind a wife and two kids..

RIP Burt..

So sorry to hear about this. Prayers for Burt's family and friends.
I remember meeting Burt after Spunwagon played at Horse Pens with the Skydogs a couple of years ago. I remember him as a real nice guy and a great player.

This is awful. I hadn't heard. Burt was the guy out front, the big guy that sang and played rhythm for Isaac. Owned a barbeque place in Ft. Payne, I believe. They played the JFD in 2007 and 2008. Very jovial man. This is a tragic loss for our local music scene.
Prayers for Burt and the Hood family.
Man, I really hate to hear this.

Here is the newspaper article of the accident.....

Man dies in wreck
By Jared Felkins
The Times-Journal

Published July 26, 2010

A Fort Payne business owner and musician was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle accident on Airport Road.

Fort Payne Police Commissioner Ron Ogletree said Joseph Burt Hood, 35 of Fort Payne, was pronounced dead at the scene just after 1 p.m. by DeKalb Coroner Tom Wilson.

Ogletree said Hood was driving south on Airport Road when he lost control, merged into the northbound lane and hit a concrete bridge barrier near Rice Road. He said Hood’s vehicle then came across the road and overturned at least twice. Hood was ejected from the vehicle.

Ogletree said the cause of the wreck is still under investigation, but officers have ruled out alcohol as a factor. Fort Payne officers, firefighters, rescue personnel and DeKalb Ambulance Service paramedics responded.

Hood was co-owner of the Barbecue Place in Fort Payne with his brother, Matt Hood. The brothers took over the restaurant after their mother and father, Karl and Rhona Hood, retired.

“He was a special person,” said Fort Payne Councilman Johnny Eberhart, Burt Hood’s cousin. “He was a good-natured guy who had a lot of friends. He will certainly be missed.”

Burt Hood was also a guitarist, bassist and member of Dreadwood Jed, Spun Wagon, Big Hood Trio and The Robby Jordan Band in Fort Payne.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Payne. Visitation is Monday from 5-8 p.m.

Thanks for posting this Sue. This is a very abbreviated version of Joyful Noise, as there were issues with the sound system that day. This is an amazing band, Isaac is an amazing player. Burt was a huge part of bringing Spunwagon and Isaac some attention around the state.

I received a call a few minutes ago from a close family friend. There will be a jam in Burt's honor in a rustic little town called Mentone in a couple weeks or so. His family has property there.

there will be benefits coming up to help the family.
Fort Payne has a wonderful little community of musicians that play together and work with each other. The folks up there have been so kind to me since i moved to alabama..
The kind of thing that gives me hope..

Burt was a big part of this...

had a very nice talk with Issac Pike last night...

keep your eyes on Aug 13th..
