Watching a PBS Special on sweet soul music hosted by Aretha. Showed a spot by Percy Sledge doing his famous "When a Man Loves a Woman". Showed lokked like our Jaimoe on the drum chair. I recognize that left hand. Oh my... JAIMOE!!!

Not sure if that would have been Jaimoe or not?
From Wikipedia....

**Johanson came up in the R&B world and began drumming at an early age, often accompanied by friend Lamar Williams on bass. Johanson backed soul singers, including a membership in Otis Redding's touring band in 1966, and afterward touring with the acclaimed soul duo, Sam & Dave.**

I haven't seen the show, so I don't know if it was Jaimoe or not but here is a blurb I sent out on how Jaimoe and my brother Twiggs first hooked up.
Twiggs first met Jaimoe in September 1966 at the Apollo Theater, when Twiggs was on the road with Sledge. Otis Redding was touring Europe and Jaimoe was living in Brooklyn waiting for Otis to return, so he could rejoin Otis’ band. As it turned out, Otis, upon his return, hired the Bar-Kays to back him up so Jaimoe was available when Percy Sledge needed a drummer. Other members of Sledge’s band during Jaimoe’s stay included at times, Rudolph “Juicy” Carter on baritone and soprano sax , Arthur “Tick” Allen on baritone and Donald “Fats” McClure on alto and baritone. Jaimoe left Sledge to play with Joe Tex. One day the drummer who replaced Jaimoe in Sledge’s band punched the trumpet player in the mouth. Sledge made Twiggs fire the drummer, and Twiggs called Jaimoe to tell him to meet them in Huntsville to rejoin Sledge. However, Sledge then decided to rehire the drummer and this infuriated Twiggs, who had just had to fire him. Twiggs quit as Sledge’s road manager over the principle of the thing.

I attended the college in Milledgeville, Ga. in the early 70's. Milledgeville had a bar/nightclub called A.T.'s. The owner, A.T. was Percy Sledge's drummer at one time.

I watched the Sledge clip and it does look like Jaimoe's body style at the kit. Any way to ask Jaimoe if it is indeed him?

The youtube clip.

Hard to tell from that video. No close ups of the band. And the script, "Woody," was on the bass drum head, so that may be the clue that it isn't Jaimoe?

I would bet money that it is Jaimoe

Maybe playing on Woody Woodson's kit

The body language and playing style certainly resembled Jaimoe's.

I don't know if that's Jaimoe, but I just wanted to say, threads like this are what this site has been missing for a while.

Did anybody else click on it thinking it might be Jaimoe with Porter Batiste Stoltz??

Here's a cleaner version of the same Percy performance. At the 13-16 second mark, 3:02-3:12, and 3:37-4:08, it definitely looks like Jaimoe.

And that's Otis introducing Percy Sledge in the first second of the video too.
