I've got a DVD of the Frank Hannon Band from 2007, but it's not the new, acoustic Frank. Listened to the cut you linked to and really liked it!

I read in the Wiki that he had played with Dickey...

Rollin' On Down the Gypsy Highway
Hello Music Lovers,
The CD's have arrived and "Gypsy Highway" is now available for order here online.

ATTENTION: This new album is very different musically and does not sound like you might expect.

"Gyspy Highway" is an acoustic guitar album that is tinged with a little of everything from Rock to Folk, Country to Bluegrass and everything in between.

The main focus of this album is Frank Hannon's lyrical song writing with story telling vocals. All the instruments were played by Frank Hannon and include Mandolin, Banjo, Acoustic Guitars, Bass, Jembe drums. "Gypsy Highway" is an artistic album that takes a chance at something special from an artist who is best known for his work in the rock band TESLA.

This album is full of beautifully crafted "SONGS" that are very raw and personal with an honest approach in the production.
I don't think any true music lover will be disappointed with this album, but rather very surprised by the chance taken by Frank Hannon, the artist...

Wow.. this sounds GREAT!!!!

Alot different from Tesla for sure, but I guess that was the point.

Good stuff

This is typical....if it isn't ABB related or some obscure neo hippie jam band. Folks on this board don't give a crap about trying to hear something diferent. Frankie is very talented and all foks see or hear is Tesla, when his name comes up. This album is regards to Frankie and his other band Tesla would be like ABB doing a metal album. I guess the dogma is Tesla is from the 80's, from California, and thus must be one of those talentless make up wearing glam bands. That is so far from the truth.

Don't be discouraged, James. I listened to the track quickly at work. I'm going to revisit the site tomorrow and will probably order the CD. I like Frank. I LOVE Tesla. My favorite band from the west coast, probably. But I love it when an artist stretches out and does something you don't expect from them.

I agree with BDOB James. I'm not sure who your comments are directed towards - this review orthis forum??? If it's the review of "Gypsy Highway," then every ABB fan can identify with you since every article, book, review, blurb about the ABB or it's various members contains some kind of mistake or based on (30-40 yr. old) news. However, if it's a snide aside to us, the ABB fans at HTW, then a slight offense may be taken. I liked Tesla back in the day and even purchased a CD of covers they recently put out. I was left with the feeling, "Good, but why?" Tesla certainly didn't mind riding the metal wave (glam or otherwise) to success and certainly don't mind being marketed as such still witness the relatively recent Download Festival. So ... I wish Frank the best. The clip you linked us t sounds pretty good. Just remember that in trying to hip folks to your friends, faves, etc. ... You don't want to drive them away. I know. I struggle a little with that myself.

That sounds great...very nice...personally I wouldn't know a Tesla song if it had fists and slugged me in the face. I simply wasn't listening to rock during the time they were big so I have no predetermined thoughts of Frank.....but what I'm listening to right now sounds great...

I finally got this... It is very good, maybe one of my favorite albums of 2010 (even though I'm listening to it for the first time in 2011!).
