You're a month early, and the fact that they haven't been back sucks.

3 amazing shows!

Hey Patrick!

Edit: My post made sense when you asked people for their thoughts.

Yes Pat, I went to two of them. Only time I've ever been hooked up. Thanks Warren!

I was there for all 3 shows. Hard to believe it has been 6 years. My son and I went to our first ABB show together on night 3.

Hey Patrick!

Yeah, hard to believe it's been 6 years. Definitely time for a sequel!

Met Brofan and TerriB one of those nights while they talked with Jaimoe, took a picture. Later met the rest of the band walking around. Brofan (Rich) and I knew each other only from this site and happened to be wearing the exact same ABB T-shirt.

Great time. Remember talking with BIGDAVE and having him show me his Duane tapestry outside the Cotton Club at the TAB...said the only signature he lacked on it was JackP's....asked him why didn't he just ask him to sign it? DAVE looks puzzled, then I point out that Jaclk was standing right behind him! Ha! Off goes DAVE!!

I attended the 1998 FOX run also....

I saw Fri & Sat night shows, and then joined the GABBA group at Piedmont Park that Sunday afternoon. Wish I had stayed at the Georgian Terrace one night with everyone but it was hard to justify at that time (living close).

Saturday was one of the best Allman Brothers shows I've ever seen - Blue Sky, Layla, probably the only timed they completely nailed Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, a great Susan T sit-in, the best Good Clean Fun I've ever heard - down right jazzy, Dreams, Les Bres - seperated into two parts. One of the best Instant Lives you'll ever pick up.

I too thought it might start an ABB - Fox tradition in Atlanta, but it hasn't unfortunately. But when the Derek Trucks Band starting playing The Fox on NYE a couple years later, I made sure to start a run of GA Terrace / Fox combos.

Three nights and no repeat songs except "Dreams" with a different slide soloist each night. That Fox run was epic. I drove back to Macon each night listening to the Instant Live CD of the show I had just watched.

I've never seen ABB not repeat a song in three nights.

Absolutely Fabulous at the Fox!

I was staying at my sister's house in Warner Robins, and drove back each night, too.

I remember TerriB and I sitting in the front row of the balcony, and she said, "I heard they were going to open with Mountain Jam." Just then Butch came out and went straight to the timpanies.

"don't tell anybody i said this, but better than the Beacon!"

I've been saying it for years I remember telling people that before those Fox shows, and there were plenty of people who didn't believe me...that is, until they got there. The Beacon is a really nice place, and I haven't been there since they renovated it so it may be even nicer now than I remember, but it's not the Fox.

Then again, nothing else is Not just my favorite music venue, my favorite building, period. The "sky" ceiling, the amazing furniture, all the hidden nooks and crannies, and the finest public bathrooms in America. So much to love about that place!

You weren't a very good navigator Jim. Great weekend but not as good as the next year in Pittsburgh. We had a very special attendee that time.

Saturday night was my favorite show in spite of the beer bath I got. Sat with Denza on the front row of the Loge. I met DBHelm and BHS72 that day.

My only regret was that I missed seeing OldDirtRoad on Sunday

I had only planned on going to Saturdays show but thanks to Patrick Crenshaw and Benjamin I went to all three

Thanks for reminding us Pat - it needed prompting.

I was there Friday and Saturday and as I recall, a magical time was had by all! The Allman Brothers Band and Atlanta do go well together.

Oh, and as another reminder, October 11 will be two years since they played here. Chastain - also excellent.

The Fox Box is probably one of the best events, along with the 2009 Beacon run, that the band has put on over the past 10 years. It's what got me listening to them again after a few years away. I kind of stopped going to their shows after the 2000 tour with Jimmy. Then I started hearing all of the buzz about the band, the new album (which I wasn't crazy about when it came out), the new songs, the fresh spins on old songs. Then I heard about the Fox shows on Instant Live and decided that even though I couldn't afford them, I needed to have them. Such a definitive set of shows, they played every song from their first 4 albums (minus "Little Martha" and "Please Call Home" I think) and plenty of others from HTN and the 90s. Plus three very different versions of "Dreams" (Jack's is absolutely amazing). I mean, are you kidding me? I think it's the definitive set from this lineup, wish I had been there, should be the go to for anyone wondering what they've been up to lately.

I went to the Saturday Fox show, which was the spring board for me diving back into the ABB with zeal. 9/25/04 was only my second ABB show...ever, the first being 25 years earlier in Indy on 5/26/79. I met a lot of cool people that night. Here's a pic from that night that's in the gallery.

I also won a HTN t-shirt for correctly guessing the Revival opener for the Sunday show, 'cause I'm awesome like that.

I met so many of you at the Fox shows, hung out with many I already knew, and also ran into old high school friends I hadn't seen in many years. It was definitely a magical three days that will never be repeated. So many memories. I was standing in the lobby during one of the intermissions, and looked over to see the prettiest girl in my graduating class looking right at me with a big, beautiful smile on her face. I smiled back, and she came straight over. She wasn't sure if it was me or not. We had a great time for a few minutes, then she went back to her group and I went back to mine. The whole weekend was full of magic moments for me. I'm glad to see it was that way for so many of you as well.

Speaking of the Fox' s nooks and crannies, check out this story about the Phantom of the Fox. Be sure to click under Related for photos of his pad. Don't worry about his lease; he has one of the best attys in Atlanta on the case.
