Let's see.

Born in Seattle > Picks up a guitar > Paratrooper > NYC > London > Amazing albums > Awful business decisions/management > Drugs > Early death

Think that about covers it.

I saw it last night and am SO glad I stayed up to see it. It showed me so much that I didn't know about his history and the history of his music. It also allowed me to learn SO much more about the MAN that he was........what an amazing compilation. I love it and highly recommend it to whomever can see it!
Jimi was one wise man.........his early death was heartbreaking and so needless, but happened. Nothing can change that. But what he left us to enjoy and learn from is priceless and amazing.
Thanks, Jimi!

I caught only the last hour, and it was indeed interesting. It might just be me, but I found the actor-talking-as-Jimi part a little cheesy...

That "actor" was Bootsy Collins.I"m a big fan of all his movies?I've been a long-time fan of JH and had never seen some of the pictures and video clips. Very well done!

Saw it, loved it, need to buy it on DVD as soon as possible

EasyMichael might have a good point if it was just an actor reading Jimi's letters and such, but I thought Bootsy was an absolutely inspired choice and I thought he did a great job.

I had already seen/heard/read a lot of the source material, but I thought they did an absolutely brilliant job of stitching it all together. Besides, I enjoyed trying to pick out all the various clips. It was like playing Hendrix: The Home Game Here a few things I caught....

They had a lot of footage from Monterey Pop and Woodstock, of course, but they also used a lot of the 5/30/70 Berkeley show, available on DVD as Jimi Plays Berkeley. The versions of Johnny B Goode and New Rising Sun are from that show, plus snippets of Voodoo Child from that show were in there.

They were definitely using the 5/24/69 San Diego Sports Arena version of Red House for the soundtrack to a segment about Jimi and the blues. I think the version of Catfish Blues in there is from 1/29/68 Paris, but I'm not as sure of that one.

The Atlanta Pop Festival was well represented, they include the whole "big finish" section of Voodoo Child from that show. Smokin' hot!

I also recognized some footage from the Rainbow Bridge show from Maui, In From The Storm and Foxy Lady and maybe more that I can't remember right now.

Kudos to Biography, and long live Jimi!

Okay, as I said, I missed the first hour and didn't watch any credits. I'll take my humble pie over to the corner now...

The video that I'd not seen before (other than Monterey and Woodstock) was very cool to see.
