My sweet Angels and Rogues. It's time once again to stock our new digs with ice and towels!!!

First a history:

Thanks to a 1975 Pioneer ad and a suggestion from my buddy Susea, Big Daddy's 1 was started on June 20, 2006, and enjoyed a 108 page run.

http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=v iewthread&tid=46497

Controversial and always fun we enjoyed quite a fellowship (along with some DELICIOUS PHOTOS) and decided to keep it running when the webmasters decided to shut down the big threads!

Thus began Big Daddy's 2 on December 13, 2006:

http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=v iewthread&tid=53716

With a brief explanation of the history of the thread, and LOTS and LOTS MORE delicious photos of a very handsome gentleman, we picked up some new friends along the way. Big Daddy's 2 enjoyed a 127 page run.

Once again we enjoyed tons and tons of photos of Gregory, and many truckloads of ice and towels with Big Daddy's 3. Big Daddy's 3: Can't Stop Now began June 19, 2007, and ran for 111 pages.

http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=v iewthread&tid=62760

At that time we also branched out over to Gregory's website. Big Daddy's Location #2: Gregory's Angels was started July 10, 2007, and is still active. So y'all don't forget to stop on by over there.

http://www.greggallman.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=viewthre ad&tid=578

Big Daddy's 4 started December 26, 2007, and ran for 206 pages. To date it is the largest Big Daddy's thread and was chock full of our usual antics and fun...but also some trollish attacks. Thanks to our Angels and a good group of our Peach Corps. buds, we came out of it riding high.

http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=v iewthread&tid=69854

Big Daddy's 5 started November 12, 2008, and ran for 114 pages. With this thread Big Daddy's became the place it was always meant to be: a place ran not only by fun loving Gregg fans, but friends.

http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=v iewthread&tid=83929&page=1&orderdate=

Big Daddy's 6 started July 17, 2009, and ran for 113 pages.

http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=v iewthread&tid=95576

And now the official explanation:

Big Daddy's is an appreciation thread for Gregory L. Allman. In it's four and a half year long history (and that's a long time internet-wise), it started primarily as a thread for the ladies and a few brave gentlemen. But has since turned into a haven for all Angels and Rogues who love this fabulous musician as well as for what it was intended to be: a place for friends. I want EVERYONE to know that they are welcome!

And now I'd like to proclaim the new Big Daddy's officially OPEN!

Decorate accordingly.

STRAT! KITTY! EFFIE! I have to say that I am very pleased with how Rounder Records is promoting Gregory and his new CD. Personally I feel that he should have had this type of backing all along. This is something that most of us Angels have been striving for...passing along news and schedules by word of mouth and social media. It makes me so happy seeing Gregory get this coverage!

agreed--it's been a great pleasure to see 2 of my musical heros for about 40 years,Gregg & Leon Russell, get the attention they deserve for creating unusually excellent music...

of what i've heard of the clips, this sounds like Gregg's finest work since Laid Back & The Gregg Allman Tour(& some pretty good ones in between)......

i had some concern about how T-Bone's production style would work with Gregg, but from the choice of musicians to the selection of songs & instruments(an upright bass!!) this might just be a classic album

and,i got me some tix to the release party....shhhhh

For anyone who doesn't look at Gregory's website, Lana posted this on his Guestbook last week:

Hey all ,

Speaking of heads up, sweet Bee, Gregory is going to be on CBS Sunday Morning in the not too distant future ... probably around the release date of Low Country Blues. Filming is already complete. His home, home studio, grounds, Macon, and the Big House were all included.

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

You're welcome. This was on Gregory's web site (greggallman.com) though, not Facebook.

But Gregory's Facebook page is running "The Twelve GA's of Christmas," with links to the original versions of the songs that are on his CD, plus his and Warren's song "Just Another Rider."

I just noticed it's a new thread.

Big Daddy still workin' it?

Gregg has solidified his position among the legendary blues musicians of our time.Timeless tunes recorded back in the early to mid 70's. Listen to "Laid Back", "GA Live with Cowboy" and "Playing Up a Storm". His voice is magnificent. Song arrangements and backup musicians are killer....imho...

And still the case ... man has nine lives, musically and in every other way. Definitely something worth celebrating.
