I hadn't listened to this recording in awhile and am refreshed again at the joy of Duane and Dickey in all their glory! I think about what may have been. I think about the brilliance that Dickey displayed in Duane's absence - even on slide of all things! I think about Duane's unique, enduring legacy that is still explored and expanded upon 40 years later...

What a band, what a mighty fine band!

Happy Holidays!

first time I heard this 9/19/71 Blue Sky I described it to a friend a "orgasmic, with Berry pushing the hell out of Duane & Dickey".........that's what they were...orgasmic....

Sure wish there were some new ABB Archive to buy....

Finally located a copy of StonyBrook 09/19/71 and I'm amaxed by that Blue Sky version which starts off close to the studio version...the whole band plays the song as tightly as you hear on the studio version... then takes off.. Duane's fills on thiis are amazing, his lead just explodes - Dickey has to follow Duane's solo - a tall order - and DB's solo is tightly woven. I've jammed to this tune on the guitar for years - the E chord & A jam is one of the best. "...Here's a song some of you might have heard before ..Blue Sky". that sends Chills. DB's current version is usually preceeded by a GD's Franklins Tower tease in DB's nod to Jerry - l love it- I think DB swithces keys in the song now as Franklins starts off in A, and it becomes a A & D jam. The 10/21/09 DB show in Cherleston SC I attended showed DB can still rip that tune.. Happy early 40th Birthday Blue Sky!!!!!!!!!

Just an incredible version--Takes your breath away--especially when it all of a sudden just takes off--ALSO--Berry is really something on it!
