Yup..it appears to be true..
http://therealtimer.com/Guitar-Legend-Gary-Moore-Has-Died-Aged-58

When I get back home this evening, I'll break out some Moore CD's
I have (Run For Cover, Victims of the Future, Corridors of Power) and
Thin Lizzy's "Black Rose" and play 'em all in memory of him..

Rest in Peace.

I can't believe it! I recall getting hip to Gary in a Guitar World article about the NWOBHM in the early Eighties. I rushed out and bought "Corridors of Power" and "Victims of The Future" and was promptly blown away. While the rest of America was listening to MTV BS, I had discovered gold in that there were people still playin' the sh*t outta guitars and none better than Gary. Although it could be said that he was very derivative (Santana and Buchanon) come to mind, he was distinctly original in the same way SRV was. The rest of the world knew it too. Gary was adept at any stlye whether it be blues, metal or fusion. He could blister a guitar with unrivaled fire and intensity and was also unparalelled in a melodic slow ballad. I personally would have loved to see him play with the ABB. He was an absolutely fantasic guitarist who never got his due here in the US of A. RIP Gary! You will be missed.

Sad to hear of Gary Moore passing. He was one hell of a player both with Thin Lizzy and on his own. RIP Gary.

"Time was running out for everyone, flying above the sea of Japan."

Wow. Very sad. Only 58.

I was a big Gary Moore fan in the early 80s - I remember hearing End of the World the first time it played on the radio in 8th grade and going "Whoa! This is for real."
Corridors of Power, Victims of the Future, We Want Moore.

Gary always had some great players on his albums and tours back then including Purple/Whitesnake/Rainbow/Ozzy alumni: Ian Paice, Neil Murray, Neil Carter from UFO, Bob Daisley, Jimmy Bain, Tommy Aldridge, Don Airey, Craig Gruber.

I'm back listening to some of those great tunes from the early 80s right now. Sad news.
