Go Wharfie, go! 10 miles is awesome. Today is the Long Island Marathon (or half or 10K or 5K -there's a couple of choices for runners) but I am only reading about it in the paper. Maybe someday I'll be a participant in one form or another.

Today...my goal is to get outside and run 4.5 miles. Have been running on the treadmill so it'll be nice to be outside for a change. Not sure how I'll keep my pace up but I'll just do it and the time will be what the time will be. I'm not looking to break any world records or kill myself.

MapMyRun.com website helped me plot a route so at least I know I'm covering the distance. I recommend it. You can plug in your address and there will probably be a few routes already plotted by your neighbors. It's also has a "my workouts" section which is a nice way to keep track of distance and timing as I get a little better at this. I don't use the nutrition tracker at all but it's there if anyone wants to do that.

Good luck to all trying to keep on keeping on.

Don't worry about the scale wharfy. It's the lifestyle that counts. I'm down to 215 (for real!), it'sd amazing to me how much more beneficial running outsdie seems to be than running on the treadmill. Don't know why that is, but it seems to be true. Rainy day today so I'll have to settle for the treadmill after a light weight workout. Keep up the good work folks.

Got my swim groove back today. Knocked off my full set and felt strong at the end.

Tomorrow no running or swimming. Just a nice walk and treat myself to lunch.

I weigh in every six months with my Chiropractor/Nutritionist and so far i am down 33 pounds 10% BMI reduction and 7% BFI reduction .

I get checked each month and my supplements are adjusted up or down new ones added others taken away as my body heals.

I see him every week I get an adjustment and I get my liver, pancreas and adrenal glands checked.

Ran outside on Sunday and did the 4.5 miles with no problem. I ran at a comfortable speed not letting my breathing get labored and it actually turned out to be a faster pace than on the treadmill. Much more enjoyable. I got home late tonight and it was dark so I hit the treadmill and did 2.5 miles and it felt like 10. Ugh.

I don't own a scale. This was never about weight loss in my case. But I do feel a difference in how my clothes fit and even more importantly, I just feel better in general and less like a slug. That was the goal.

I learned something last night.

About two weeks ago I "popped' something in my right foot stumbling over a chair. In my office at work, not even after a drink ot two! ) Ever since then when I walk briskly or get on the elliptical, after about 20 minutes that same spot will "pop" and it just hurts like hell. After a while on the machine it pops on every downstep and eventually have to stop, which is when I move to the weights, work on the upper body.

Yesterday my left foot started hurting, either arthritis or a gout flareup, I'm not sure, but I'm already frustrated by having my workouts messed with that I got mad and went to the gym and got on the elliptical and went like a madman hard for 20 minutes until my right foot started popping again.

Work though the pain, dammit! Right?

Wrong.

Ended up being a terrible idea. Pain is worse now in both feet.

After all this^^^^ went on for a few more weeks, I finally had to see the docs. got to the point of matching the classic stress fracture symptoms. After some consults, an x-ray and the MRI...I have...arthritis. Sigh. Gettin' old.

Good workout in the pool today. Trimmed my rest periods in between pieces from 45 seconds to 30. I pulled it off but I was tired at the end.

The man in the lane next to mine is training for the Olympic team. After his flip turn, he got half way to the other end before taking a breath. The distance I do for a workout he does for a warm up... he's got the time! Hopefully he makes the team.

Tomorrow is the Friday run. Keep up the good work gang!

Missed the last 3 workout days working Texas Ranger games. Sore and stiff from that, but looking forward to getting back into the gym today. Legs, arms, and cardio.

Good job Doug. Life gets in the way sometimes...

Got some new running shoes over the weekend and tried them out yesterday. That's always fun! Nothing major, just a few miles. Today is a swim day.

Good evening all. Just back from a run around the neighborhood. I added a new section of roads to the usual route to increase it to 3 miles. Wouldn't you know, sometime between doing that on Sunday and today the town ripped up all of those new roads to ready them for paving. Sheesh...discovering this at dusk made it even more interesting. Talk about having to pay attention! I imagined I was trail running. LOL Sure as heck beat looking at those numbers on the treadmill.

Wharfie....the race countdown is getting down to the final days now. I know you'll do great. You know you will have all of us along the sidelines in spirit cheering you on! Yeah...we'll be the voices in your head that won't shut up the whole way!

Back in the pool today after taking a week off. The first set was a little rough but after that, I got in my zone. Even did an extra three laps.

Back on the road tomorrow. Keep chuggin' along everyone!

Knocked off the pool interval workout today without a hitch. Even talked some Allman Brothers with one of the other swimmers.

The Friday long run tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get out of the office early for the 3 day weekend and then it's time to chill!

Decent week with the workouts..
Way too sore to run on Monday, so I stuck with the elliptical and weights.
Unfortunately I felt a pop in my shoulder and its still hurting.- Though not as bad.
Ran 3 on Tue, 5 on Wed, 6 today.
Day off tomorrow

Don't push it Wharfie. I'm still holding at 215. Looking forward to working out with my 14 yo daqughter this summer. She's ready to start serious athletic training. Hope I can keep up for one more summer.

Heading to the gym this morning, feeling good! Think its about time to change up the workout routine a little bit, just in time for summer. May add more runningcardio and cut back on the weights for a while.
