Did the Friday "Carb Loading" Run today! Plenty of carbs from a 14 oz glass! Burned them off on the way back to the gym. Cheers!

Turned 57 a few days ago, so for work out today I did something I used to do years ago...... bench tricep dips with plates on legs. Second set did 3 plates..... it was a bio physical experiment for sure. Try 4 plates next time.... guy that helped me load unload plates thought I was nuts....

Had a great legs and arms workout this morning with my son. It's so cool to be able to spend this type of quality "guy" time with him, while at the same time teaching him the right way to workout and take care of his body. Playing catch, shooting bows, playing Madden, these are very special times I'll always remember. Hope he does as well.

Your boy is lucky to have such a great dad.

In all honesty, I'm really the lucky one to have such a great son. Thanks for the thoughts oak.

Tomorrow morning the boy and I will be working light strength training and heavy on cardio. Pullups, decline press, skull crushers, and reverse flys, 4 sets of 12 in supersets, then elliptical and rowing machines. Then off to the archery range! Keep working folks.

Right On Doug! Same to you bird72!

Nice swim today. Tried out the new speedo! I think I even swam a little faster...

Light rain and cool temps kep the crowd away. The water was smooth and toasty. I got in a mile's worth of laps: 1X500, 1X1000, 1X300 with the pull buoy. Even after a shower I still smell like chlorine... "the smell of victory!"

Great day to run today. The storm cleared out and there is a blue bird sky with green hills and snow in the mountains. Got in 5 miles today with a climb. My leg is a bit sore just above the knee. I think it just needs some rest plus it's time for new shoes. Fortunately, I'll be out of town on a family vacation so no running for a few days.

I'm up to running 4-5 days a week now, with the elliptical machine, rowing machine, or jumping rope thrown in on non running days. Really feeling good, can tell my core is definately getting stronger. Even if I only get in 3 miles, it's all good. Legs and arms today with jump rope. Also have noticed that by having just fruit for breakfast I am less hungry throughout the day and seem to have more energy. Keep up the good work folks!

Banged out a 5K last night, just 'cuz... Felt pretty good, but off my best time. Did some abs too.

My eldest son (almost 16) and I are now working out together too. It is great father/son time. Although he gets pissed when I tell him to drop weight and work on form...Oh well. He'll learn one way or the other.

did legs today....Got my squat up to 175 for 2 sets of 5 after doing 115 135 155 for sets of 5

Gonna go for 180 on Monday for 2 sets of 5....still hating the stairmaster but I get on it before every workout for my cardio and my warmup....I have a lot of respect for the runners....I just can't find that groove for it...maybe someday...but I do enjoy moving weight

No weights today. Taking my son to an archery tournemnt this morning, then watching my daughter run in her first high school track meet (after they won their soccer game 6-0 last night), then going for a 4 miler on the treadmill this afternoon. Life is full and good.

You guys are inspiring. Just started reading this post and its getting me jacked up for my run tomorrow. I'm an old guy, 57, but have been working out my whole life. Now mainly running as I made the mistake a number of years ago of buying a home gym and not going to the gym. Anyway as a runner, and with the Beacon stand coming up I was thinking about how cool it is to find great places to run when you are on the road. One of my favorites is Central Park, especially on a nice March day when it seems like the whole City is out there.

Yeah....I'm 55 I think most of us on this site have seen the better part of 40 long ago....

I hit 180 today on the squat for 2 sets of 5 reps....Wednesday's work out will be a brain cleanser for me because long ago when I got hurt squatting it was with 185....I know I'll blow right through and never look back...I've been waiting for this day so I can finally over come the fear of getting hurt again...Knowing i was getting close has been a bunch of small achievements.

speaking of squats..... made a decision to back off on the 450's and working on 425's..... deeper down and go for it feeling like natural, not the outer limits.... so when I can do 4-5 reps not 2 or 3 and feeling strong, then I will move up. I think I am on a one year time frame to do 500, if it is possible for me that is. I think I can, but I see the gains are closer in increment now.....

Been fighting the bug since Wednesday. I'm on the mend now but haven't exercised since last Tuesday; it sucks. Fortunately it's been warm and I got out in the yard today. Monday it's back to business!

I dislike cardio so much I upped my intensity level just to teach myself a dang lesson....

I figure fitness is about discipline so if i don't push myself there then it will be a weak spot in my training and just because I don't particularly like cardio doesn't mean I shouldn't try to get the most out of it....

working on another fun week of workouts...slowing progressing on all my weights....Took my squat back to 165 to work again on form so I'll start adding 5lbs each workout again. I also twisted my knee a couple days ago...no swelling but it's a bit tender so I thought backing off on the weight would also help not cause anymore damage....what a Claude....I'm definitely not a gazelle ...gonna hook up with my trainer this weekend and see what he's got cooked up for me. I told him I wanted to learn to sprint again so I could play softball in a senior league...

keep it up all

Doing my light 4 super set workout today, followed by 20 minutes on the elliptical machine and 15 minutes on the rowing machine. Keep rockin' it folks!
