Got on the horn with my brother in Hawaii around 7 am NYC time which is about 1 or 2 am over there. They were already up and preparing. Sirens going off etc. He lives up in the hills but friends who live near the beach were coming up to his place. Scary stuff.

We're loading a barge today with 5000 tonnes of soil for off Vancouver Island disposal. Local reports call for Tsunami to act like high tide event around 7 am pac time.

Crazy footage, if you watch some of the wave footage you can see people in cars slowing down to watch the wave. I would be fricken hauling ass out of there.

The devestation is incredible.

Some of the most fascinating and frightening video I have ever seen. Just amazing.

The destructive force of that water is unbelievable. I sincerely feel for the people affected by this tragedy.

This is terrible....I have many friends in Japan, including an ex-girlfriend and a friend of many of us, Masahiko, who has shared many great old ABB and Clapton shows that he has lovingly remastered....as well as Akira, who has been to the Beacon and has met Lana. I was introduced to Akira when I met Masahiko in Tokyo in '07 and ran into him again in Macon last April.

I pray that they are all OK.....

My sister-in-law lives there with her family. They're in Komakura and are fine, but were scared pretty bad. For those of us who remember the Santa Cruz earthquake that stopped the world series and damaged much in Oakland, that was only a 4.5. Can't quite imagine a 8.9!

That quake in 89 was a 7+ I live here in the bay area. We don't even feel a 4.5 here anymore they're so common.

The boat harbor in Santa Cruz has been ripped up by the tusnami and boats are being capsized and thrown around the habor. There is also some major damage of the harbor in Cresent City in the most Northern part of the state

Our good friend Kunio lives in Tokyo and another good friend, Jerry, arrived there shortly before the quake hit. We're definitely watching everything we can about the situation.
