A friend of mine saw Dickey in Jersey a few days ago and walked out. He said that Dickey was drunk and terrible; that the band was missing cues and that it was just a bad, bad show overall.

Frankie Lombardi and James Varnado, who have been part of Great Southern for a while now, especially Frankie, who has been in GS since 2000.

I may be in the minority but I enjoy Dickey's band much more when Duane Betts is there.Any idea if he's on the tour but just wasn't there that night?

What a reality show; V and Rainy end up as contestants together on the dating game (or any show for that matter)

By the way, you can catch James Varnado with The Tony Tyler Band at GABBAfest this year. When James isn't on the road with Dickey, he plays with Tony. Another new player Tony recently picked up is keyboardist Matt Frost, son of Grand Funk Railroad and Silver Bullet Band keyboardist, Craig Frost. I expect Tony's band is going to be cookin' at this year's GABBAfest.

I gave up on Dickey a few years ago. Saw too many bad shows and couldn't take it any longer. My money is too hard earned to throw it away on subpar performances, no matter how much I love the guy.

Hey Drew, great pics brother, really appreciate you posting them. The cat in the hat still looks to me like he knows what he is doing....if he comes south, I'm there. Thanks again. Would like to see Duane with him though....wonder where he is?

I checked Dickey's site and it seems Duane is recording.I am happy for him but since I'm going to all 3 Dickey NYC shows in August I sure hope he stops by.

Thanks for the update on Duane B. goodvibe. Nice to see that he's in the studio, but he does belong on that stage. He could record in the fall/winter. Hope you get to see him bro.

Hey hi ~ waving ~ I'm here..

I guess as with anything it is a matter of opinion.. I wasn't there...

anyhoo..my days of getting into hot topics over Betts is pretty over... I still feel the same as many here . As far as a dating "whatever" ..my husband would not like that one bit...
try and keep it about only the music. Please... and Thanks...

For anyone in the NY L.I. area DBGS is playing tonight at Westbury.. wish I could go..but have family commitments.. which will be fun

Saw Dickey, Pedro, Andy, Frankie and James last night in Enfield, CT. They were HOT. Duane was missed but he's working on his own future in LA last night. To be truthful, while Duane makes a valuable contribution, his heart always seems to be somewhere else - somewhere where a young man's heart should be.
Lasts night's show was awesome. For those who want the "sobriety" comment, Dickey didn't miss a cue, played orchestra leader and didn't forget or mess up any lyrics. He was working hard; he HIT THE NOTE over and over.
Great to hear that James will be playing with Tony. I only have the highest of hopes for my dear friend. All he needs is a good band and management with a USA-wide booking capability and someday, he'll be the star I know he has the capability of being.
Thanks, Dave, for putting him on the GABBA bill.
