Almost $100 for 400 level and obstructed view at MSG. Everything else is $171. Makes Furthur and ABB Beacon shows seem like a bargain.

Count me out! At least at those crazy MSG prices. I'll wait for the youtube videos. I will never pay those prices for an arena show ever. $100 for 400 level at MSG where the band look like ants and the sound is terrible????? No thanks!!!

The truly sad thing is they'll probably sell out many of these dates despite the high ticket prices. We're our own worst enemy when it comes to prices for arena shows. Show your displeasure by not attending.

I have no interest seeing Van Halen or anyone else from the 400 section of Madison Square Garden. I have sat everywhere in that place for shows over the years and there is no worse sound and sight experience than a show from the 400s at MSG. Unless the better seats were priced reasonably I just won't go and I won't lose a wink of sleep over it. I saw them at the top of their game at MSG 30 years ago and ain't gonna pay 15 times what I paid back then for a band that is no where close to being as good as they were back then.

Maybe the closer seats where you can hear them are cheaper. That makes sense.

Have they lost their minds if they sell them all out though? I agree though that the prices will be ridiculously high. VH really started screwing their fans over, I'd say beginning in the mid-1990s. EVH is now always hawking new gear whenever he gets a chance, and way over-priced at that ($10 for a few guitar picks with the EVH logo??). So yeah, $75 (after extortion fees) for nosebleeds sounds about right.

As for me, I won't be there unless they fire their sound engineer and there are tons of fan reports online that they've fixed the terrible live mixes. The '07-08 tour had lots of negative reviews of sh...y sounding shows, and Atlanta was no exception.

Face it, most seats for a concert at a big venue like MSG just plain suck!
We can all be thankful that the ABB can't / won't fill MSG but will still do a Beacon Run.

Beacon is a much better venue. More intimate and great seats everywhere.

Not so fast ! Kenny Chesney may show up and jam with them , that's gotta be worth the price of admission by itself . Yes , I'm kidding .

I don't think they lost their minds at all. If they can get that kind of money and sell out the joint, actually, IMO, it makes them pretty darn smart. It's the folks shelling out that kind of money who have lost their minds.

Brother Hank nails it again, IMHO. I refuse to be a part of the exoribant tkt prices. If they (VH) can get that kinf of money, more power to 'em. It just won't be mine.

If he feels that way rightfully so. Everyone is allowed their opinion but to my ears the ABB are way closer to sounding still in their prime live than anything I have heard from VH in a very long time and the ABB do a lot of improve, especially on guitar as opposed to VH who just go out and execute the same songs the same way night in and night out. Go to an ABB show you get a different set list and spontaneity every night. With VH you will get the same thing every night and with Roth at least back in the day you would get the same exact stage banter and rap every night with only the name of the city changed.

Amen Al!!!!!!!! Big difference paying $120 to see 2 1/2 hours of music at a small venue where you don't know what songs you are getting ahead of time than paying $120 to see 2 hours worth of music from a band with a predictable set list with no spontaneity in a cavernous building.

I saw Van Hagar in 91 or 92 at a dirt track raceway in Weedsport, same place I first saw the ABB.

Tickets were GA and were well under $50.

That was good enough for me.

I'll skip driving to Buffalo for that show.

But if you only go to one show, it won't matter if the setlist is the same and Roth rambles about the same thing. Dickey and Gregg both said the exact same things for 30 years. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the modern ABB and will check out VH. But as much as you love the current ABB, you won't convince the majority of fans that it matches Duane and Dickey era. Hell someone agreed with my buddy one post later. To your ears they sound close but to others it is a different sound altogether. Imagine if they attempted to play a show of only modern era songs?

I understand people not wanting to spend money on tickets. But VH is hardly alone there. They are just asking the going rate and promoters are paying it because they will sell. If not, prices will drop for future on sale dates. But they won't. This same topic involved the ABB's recent shows also and their prices.

I have to drive to Minnesota to check it out. Looking forward to it and am not expecting anything near to what I remember from the 70's or early 80's.
