Ok, I know this is a rehash of a recent thread...but I just have to say how much I am LOVING renaissance man from Jaimoe's Jasssz band.

I bought all the solo discs last year in this order
gregg
warren
derek
Jaimoe
And now, i truly believe I saved the best for last. Definitely the most ABB vibe to it. And the jazz/instrumental tracks...wow, I can listen to that for days! For anyone out there like me that was hesitant to order it, DO IT NOW! you will not regret it. The horns on here are amazing...dave stolz sounds like a mid 70's lamar...the singer is great and the drumming is laid back and tasteful.
Thank you Jaimoe!!!

completely agree. the reason why i like it the most of the 4 is because it is the most allman-esque. junior mack wails on this album.

to me, it sounds like the album that Win Lose or Draw could have been. And the production is much better than WLD too.

Hey there, I have been lurking around here for years, but felt the need to chime in on this one. I agree 100% that the Renaissance Man CD is excellent, and is by far one of my favorites from the past year.

If you don't have it - get it!

Am looking forward hugely to checking this out -- great comments! especially mulebrother' comment about Bro. Dave vis a vis Lamar -- have listened to both We 3 & ea Level while awaiting the arrival of R-Man -- that's a Very interesting comparison indeed! -- David's playing on R-Man, & Lamar's more jazz/fusion-oriented playing -- in which he was nothing short of brilliant...

Yes Jaimoes cd is excellent it does have an early Allman vibe to it. And he said in a recent interview he has music in the can for their next album.

Posted this morning, went to the mailbox and, voila
Real nice listen -- only listened to it once, really like the sound of Jr. Mack's guitar playing, & the songs all sound excellent -- Jaimoe & Co. have a real ear for the blues/jazz feel
Thank you indeed, Jaimoe!

I have resisted buying it until I see the band in Macon next week....

The version of Melissa (which is the only song I have heard so far), made me run into the next room, grab my guitar and start playing along.....

Can't wait to hear the band again and get the new CD...

And the two previous live cd's are great...

As i mentioned in the other thread, I was not going to get this because I'm not much of a jazz fan. Someone gave it to me for Xmas, and it's still in my car. So if you're resisting because you are not jazzy, that's no excuse!

I saw Jaimoe's band and Gregg's last Fridqay night in Jax. The CD is so good and Jr. Mack live
is a very pleasant, somewhat laid back experience.. Jaimoe's band is simply wonderful.

Looking forward to see them again tomorrow night at the Hard Rock!!!

Did I mention how much I like Jr Mack?

Gotta love Jaimoe and The Jasssz Band. A great bunch of musicians who are as nice as they are talented.

To quote Jaimoe, "Jr. Mack is going to put us on the map". He certainly did.

This cd shows a wide range of musical styles that this band is capable of. I'm going to see them at the Blender Theater next week....can't wait.

Mitch
