Ok...time for a vote....

For or against Facebook.

and knowing all of us peach people, feel free to explain and argue....

I vote no--real life, this place and The Band site seem quite sufficient....and if I really wanna talk to someone, being old fashioned,I prefer to pick up the telephone...email is ok,and I even write letters sometimes...and use mail

So dig in,preferably while listening to some good music....and have some Facebook funky fun

I canceled my Facebook account. I think it is the worst place on the internet, and a tool of the devil.

Well, maybe not a tool of the devil, but I like my life better without it.

I love Facebook, 99.9% of the time I access it from my phone.

I've lived in a few different places in my life and had my share of jobs, and through Facebook I've been able to reconnect and stay in contact with people that I otherwise would probably never seen or heard from again.

It has its quirks and all, but so does life.

I love twitter too as I am convinced that there is currently no better source of information in a myriad of ways. I think the positives of social networking/media far outweigh the negatives.

I hate the in your face aspect of Facebook. Not that any forum is secure, but when you post here it isn't sent out to 1/2 the free world. And, the teen interaction is horrible. We were jerks as teens; but if you didn't want someone somewhere you just didn't invite them. Now, photographic evidence of their exclusion is pasted all over the web. A large part of the cyber bullying is because of facebook.

And, I don't think Rowland and Lana don't sell our data

I have a facebook .. what is it an account, a page, what ??? I don't dig it.. I don't get it, I don't wanna go there, I don't like talking about every thought I have , I don't want people looking me up.. I keep it open if there is something about the ABB and DB or other band members that I need to find out , especially if there is a problem accessing the ABB / DB site..

It seems kinda juvenile to me .. unless you are networking for your job , I dunno know do you do that sorta thing on facebook.. I am clueless about it and like it that way...

just sayin'

I have you to keep me informed. I couldn't possibly be bothered with all of that Facebook stuff...and Tweeting...deliver me from evil...

Perhaps a better title of this thread should have been "Facebook haters unite!"

I keep up with people on FB that used to post here...and there are a ton of people that have posted all sorts of youtube links to great music, news events, all kinds of things on Facebook. I don't post every detail of my life, and I have my security settings at a comfortable level for me.

But, if it isn't for you, it isn't for you. Oh well.

I thought about Facebook once, then I went and laid down until the urge went away. Never done it, most likely never will.

And Tweeter, I thought that was a bird...or was it Tweety

Anyway, my vote is ##@No and No

Personally I like it a lot. It gives me a chance to communicate with tons of people from high school and such who are spread all over the country. Most of the people I have reconnected with I probably would have never heard from again if not for facebook. I have also gotten to know a lot of the fine people I have met here in a more intimate way on Facebook many of whom live all over the place who I wouldn't be able to connect with at shows or in person. A lot cheaper to chat or talk to someone on Facebook than on a long distance call. Also love all of the pictures shared which gives you a chance to see what old friends and their families look like. Lots of cool music videos and band and artist pages to get info about schedules and upcoming news. I actually spend more time there than here these days and a lot of people that don't or rarely show up here anymore are on Facebook.

The last three weeks stress-fully watching my Giants along with old NY friends who don't live here anymore as well as others on Facebook made me feel like I was watching the games on a fifty foot long couch with a bunch of buddies which was very cool. Still nothing like face to face but Facebook allows you to communicate with people spread around the country on a daily basis who you would never be able to communicate with otherwise.

It's not that I'm against FB, I just do not see the need for it. As for reconnecting, I have had the same phone # for 26 yrs, so I can be found if needed.

There is a woman at work who is so frustrated by my resistence to FB that she threatened to set up an account in my name. Gee, maybe she has and I have no idea!
I'm sure the pretend minutiae about me is much more interesting.

I am a big fan of Facebook. The first thing to know about it is that you control who has access to anything you post. I have my account set up so non friends cannot view anything but my name and picture. If someone starts to stalk you or whatever, you simply block them. Unlike here where you have no control at all over who sees what you post, there you have total control. That said. I like it for a variety of reasons. My friends can be divided into categories.

1. People from my past: These include old classmates and old camp mates. Some of them are people who I was once close to and lost touch with, others are people I never really knew that well. Through Facebook interaction I have gotten to know a lot of them and some are really cool people. None of them would I have ever had contact with again were it not for FB.

2. Music friends: These are the people who share my musical love of the ABB and Warren Haynes. I have several hundred people who I interact with in this category. Only a small number have I met at shows and the like. A social network like FB can bring people with common interests a world apart together.

3. Current friends and acquaintances. These are people I know and are in my life and world currently. Many of them are difficult to keep in regular contact with. FB lets me see their photos and know what is going on in their life.

There are many other things I like about FB and none of them are poking or silly games. Of course social network sites like all human social interaction has its downsides. But for me the positives greatly outweigh the negatives.

Totally agree on the Giants. I am going out of my mone to watch the SB so probably won't be posting on FB during the game.

I won't say I like facebook, but it has a lot of good things. I "talk" to my sister in NM everyday. I have reconnected with cousins I haven't seen in years, a dear friend who lives in Honduras, a couple of HS friends. I like the instant communication on FB.

Big Daddy's has been transplanted to Gregg Allman Fans group(unofficial page) on facebook. The number is over one thousand now. Mitzi and Susea run that group and do a great job. Many people who used to be on HTW are friends on facebook and we do have fun.

On facebook you can chose who you want to be friends with. You can hide your personal information.

What I don't like about facebook is they make big changes overnight with no warning. These push you to be friends with people you don't know. Now they are forcing members to accept a new screen format that looks a lot like myspace.

I used to love HTW, but not anymore. I prefer facebook any day. I visit here to see a few friends.

Rainy, I really miss you!

This is the only place I post. I just don't want to take the time to constantly keep up on everyone. I don't think I do anything so important that I need to report in. When I left the tech business in 2004 after 25 years of dealing with computers I wanted to limit my time and usage. They're all good tools if you have a use for them. Facebook.....not for me

I set up an account a couple of years ago but when I searched for old friends, didn't find many and gave up on it figuring my generation just wasn't into it. Positive comments here may lead me to try again.

Love it for all things music and other things too. I just switched to Timeline and love it. Finally I can build info like the info about Ruthie Foster or the Alabama Shakes of New Found Soul. I love it for finding out about music and what my real friends are up to. I love I can block people I don't like or trust. I love I can choose what's shared and I no longer read people's incessant "like's" or who they friend-ed, but more things of substance. I like looking at photos and learning about people who live far away and meeting new people, some that have become real friends. I'm cool with not reconnecting with most people from my past. That's why they call it the past. LOL. Life like a timeline, moves forward.
