"Gregg Allman's bulging disc's painful flare up prevented him from performing atThe Allman Brothers Band 2012 Sold Out Beacon finale,on Sunday March 25. The decision was reached at showtime. The band, not wanting to disappoint it's loyal fans performed with numerous guest musicians joining them in Gregg's absence. Performers included John Popper (Blues Traveler) Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie) Bruce Katz (Gregg Allman keyboardist) Alecia Chakour, Ron Johnson & Maurice Brown (Warren Haynes Band) Oz Noy (Guitar) Anton Fig (Drums) & Hook Herrera (Harp). -- Rowland"

Sorry to hear he's hurting, but I'm glad it's this rather than something related to the transplant. I'm very curious to see a setlist of the show!

As a long time back veteran of back pain woes, I can not imagine trying to SIT thru 3 hours of a flare up. Everyday tasks morph into marathon like chores ( putting on your socks, sneezing, restroom use, shower). I tip my hat to to Gregg for trying to battle thru the pain but most Drs would tell Gregg to rest for a while, hit the anti inflams (can he do that with his condition?), strech and allow time to work her magic.

A three hour show and excriciating back pain with no pain meds would sure as hell not put me in a singing mood!

They can do a lot with backs these days. Trust me.
More than anything, I hope Gregg will take some time for himself, focus solely on himself.
Put music and everything else aside for awhile. Pull himself together, get back in the race.

In the meantime, it's nice to see Col. Bruce and Jimmy Hall get more exposure to a wider audience.

I was at the show last night and although bummed about Gregg's absence the rest of his Brothers pulled through with an amazing night of music with an awesome set list and an amazing litany of guest sit ins. It was one of those shows when you have low expectations but ends up being something very special and unique. Definitely didn't leave feeling cheated at all because the music was incredible and they played almost 3 1/2 hours going past 12:20am. Got home a bit later than I thought I would but with a big smile on my face!!!

Get well soon Gregg!!! You were missed last night but your Brothers brought their A game and did you proud. They won one for the Gipper!!!

Warren Haynes, Jimmy Hall, and Jr. Mack sang all of the songs Gregg would usually sing.

Warren did on a few songs - Blue Sky (Dickey), Every Hungry Woman, Gambler's Roll, Dreams, and Soulshine (Warren and Alecia Chakour)

Stateboro was Jimmy Hall

Spoonful was Col. Bruce - not sure if Gregg does vocals on this one

You Don't Love Me was Jr. Mack
