It is profane that arguably the strongest lineup of the band ever is only going to have one studio album of new material. Why not just cull the new tracks from the last 10 years of Instant Live records and have a live album of all new material?

I know illegal downloading is a problem, but they still made money on Hittin' The Note. The time Butch takes telling everybody how to vote....they could have a boxset out by now.

Can we have peace in the Middle East while we're at it...

Agree that it's disappointing the band hasn't released any new material of late. That being said, I doubt anything will happen other than some reissues.

Sorry, but to me it's indisputable that the original six guys were the strongest lineup ever.

NO!

You'll be lucky to get a new concert DVD.

Or a new Archive Release for that matter.

But if you want to hear a great recent album by an original member get Jaimoe's new disc.

I have a positive feeling that we will get a new studio album in 2013. Some new Gregg/Warren songs + Bagend + a few blues / jazz covers. 10 years after the last studio album they will be Hittin' The Note again!

If anything, it will be a live cd of new tunes and covers or some past lp played in it's entirety.

my .02

I'd love to have an interview picture disc of gregg and his attorney talkin bout his book and such. Seems that is the most creativity we'll get from any of the original members. ooops forgot about Jaimoe's new one.

When and if Gregg's health ever returns, I feel there may be one last studio effort.

It will be one of the best yet. According to Gregg over the last ten years, he has been working on songs with Warren. They must be fine tuning those suckers like no other songs before them.

Maybe it is time that the band just announces their retirements. This will at least give the fans something that is concrete instead of just stringing people on. But on the other hand if all you worry about is a new ABB album you should move out of your parents basement and meet some girls. How about this. The complete ABB performance 3 day run of the FE album, Watkins Glen, something with Duane.

i would say the odds of a new album are about zero,I question how long they will be able to tour forget about record a new album...i would say that ship has sailed and it is time to move on!

It certainly seems unlikely, but I wouldn't count it out just yet.

Now that Gregg's solo album and book are done, something needs to be done to feed the beast. A new ABB album would be a logical choice, although applying logic to this situation is probably a bad idea

I'm not holding my breath, but you could argue that no band in history has risen from the ashes and proven the doubters wrong more times than the ABB. Here is a brief list of things that The Allman Brothers Band were never, ever going to be able to do....

--Survive Duane's death and put out an album as good as Eat A Peach
--Survive Berry's death and put out Brothers and Sisters, their best-selling album ever
--Reunite with Gregg after the whole Scooter Herring trial when some members of the band said they would "never work with Gregg again."
--Come back from the disappointing Arista years with the critical, musical and popular success of the Allen Woody/Warren Haynes lineup in the 90s.
--Survive for 12 years without Dickey Betts
--Host their own music festival and have it be a roaring success

Did I miss anything? When you look at that list, there are many things the ABB has accomplished that were more improbable than recording a new studio album.

what Rob said..

it is my belief that this band has been saved three times

once by Dickey Betts after the death of Duane and Berry
and twice by Warren Haynes....

I am grateful to all the guys that have been in the band but an extra nod to the two i mentioned..

How about "Moogis encompassing the whole jamband scene and wiring six clubs across the country with the HD camera setup used at the Beacon Theater, and then offering a subscription that would allow users to see live concerts online nearly every night"?

I would guess that all it takes is a decision by Gregg and / or Butch. The younger guns seem like they would step to it and get it done - they never stop making music.

Agreed. I've read posts on this site blaming Warren and/or Derek for the lack of a new album, saying that their solo careers are getting in the way of new ABB music, but I don't see it that way at all.

If Gregg called up Warren and Derek and said "I've got some new songs, but I need some help fleshing them out and then I'd like to record a new album" there is no doubt they would rise to the challenge.

I agree. If anything, another Archive release is in order! But, then, I don't think they should've reunited after the *first* breakup!
