So it seems that guests and covers by our beloved band have some connection to the band.

Needle and the Damage Done - Wanee, 4.21.12...connection? Do the Bros and Neil Young have a connection?

Only half through Gregg's book and so far no mention of Neil

I think the song is the connection.

Yeah, what possible connetion could there be between that song and a former heroin addict who contracted Hepatitis C from a dirty needle?

A real head scratcher, for sure

According to the 'official story' that was a tattoo needle... Point well taken, though. (And I'm not saying the official story is true, either.)

In deference to the official story, notice I didn't say what KIND of dirty needle.

fender31, are you going to stop listening to Statesboro Blues, Done Somebody Wrong, Trouble No More, You Don't Love Me, One Way Out, etc.?

And don't give me the "those don't count as covers" argument. If Gregg didn't write it, it's a cover, no matter how much "the ABB made that song their own."

I thought Gregg said it was from a Tattoo needle, not a drug needle.

As a 56 year old survivor of Hep C, cured by treatment. I admittedly, likely got it from heroin days in 1974, I have comment. Even I can't say where I got it. If I didn't love Gregg, his statement about "tattoo needle" would be a little offensive. One can get Hep C from shared snorting straws. Shared toothbrushes. Shared nailclippers. Yes IV needles. Tattoo needles. Dentists offices if sterilization not proper. It must be blood to blood transmission is rule.

Gregg also proclaimed himself cured a couple of months after treatment. One usually waits longer than that to get cocky. I didn't until a couple years clear. And to say you know when a virus entered your body when many options exist, and the Hep C can reside for many years before symptoms, particularly with his history is just not logical, sorry, Gregory!

spacemonkey, a dirty needle is a dirty needle. Either way, Neil's song fits, and I thought it was a perfect choice for Gregg to sing.

As bird72 points out, it's a little ridiculous to say "Yes, I know for a fact I contracted the disease from a dirty tattoo needle on June 24th, 1975. It was 3 PM on a Tuesday."

In Gregg's new book he talks about his first date with Cher, which included him taking her to his heroin dealer, where he shot up. Who's to say he didn't catch it then?

LOL

can you tie Kevin Bacon to Neil Young somehow?

Elisabeth Shue with Kevin Bacon in the Hollow Man.
Eliazabeth Shue with Val Kilmer in The Saint.
Val Kilmer with David Crosby in Thunderheart.
David Crosby with Neil Young in, well you know.
