I have heard from some friends that they have gotten some good deals on concerts.
Anyone else have any input or hints?

Thanks

They jack up the face value on the tickets. Big time. You can get good seats from them though so if price is not a concern, they are certainly a way to go.

Yeah,I was kinda wondering if you waited closer to show time to get some decent seats at a lower price if they are desparate to get rid of them.

That happens too. If you wanna take your chances that's cool. I've done that before.

Good luck!

actually stubhub can be a blessing,I have bought several tickets to mets and yankee games at big discounts to the face price of the ticket...it works as it should according to supply and demand...if u choose to look for hot tickets to sold out events expect to pay a ton ...if you look for shows or events that arent as popular you can get tickets at very reasonable prices.....

I have purchased and sold tickets using Stubhub. Stubhub facilitates the purchase of tickets putting together buyers & sellers. They take a fee from each. They do not sell the tickets, or set the prices.

I have purchased tickets at far reduced prices, below face value, for many shows & sporting events. Watch the prices regularly, as they have automatic price drops that a seller can opt-in for when selling tickets. These will reduce the prices automatically at certain dates, as the events get closer.

The sellers are also competing against one another to get you to buy their tickets. Many times you will see better quality seats at a lower price than a lesser quality seat. Often this is due to someone really just wanting to sell extra tickets, not looking to make a profit, and the price can be reasonable.

They also provide pick-up locations in major cities & event areas for last minute online purchases when electronic tickets are not available.

I personally have not had any problem with Stubhub. Always got the seats purchased. When selling, the money was in my account timely.

I accidentilly used them once (DTB NYE Fox Theater a few years back). I didn't get tix when they went on sale. Went to the DTB site (I think) clicked on TICKETS. EXCELLENT seats popped up. I attributed the seemingly high price to the show being on NYE. Didn't realize I was dealing with a 3rd party til after the deal went down.

I typically do not deal with scalpers - on-line or in the parking lot, but I got good seats and good service.

I've bought a ton of Celtics games off stubhub, they are usually less then half of face value.
Like people mentioned it is all dependent on the event, however i can say the most mark ups are always way before the event, people come down to earth as the event nears.

I bought some for the first time a couple of months ago for Winwood. The regular onsale for Chastain is always crummy, so I held out. Saved SH listing as a favorite and checked often. Two months before the show, some excellent series subscriber seats appeared at less than face, so even w/ the 10% buyer's commission and shipping, I still got them at about face, and it would have been like winning the lottery if those had popped up on TM.

I have also recently bought through ScoreBig. Got some $90 Waters tix for $58. It is weird though, you bid on just the sections at certain price levels not knowing what you'll get exactly. What I got were ok though.

I've uses StubHub a number of times, both for concerts and sporting events. Concerts seem to be high priced, but you may get a deal if you wait until the show is the next or same day. Sporting events are the same, but deals seem to be easier to get. There have been a number of fakes recently being sold on StubHub. They have a rep at some events and will assist people who get ripped off, but there are still some complaints about the quality of seat being given as a replacement in place of the original seat. I've personally have never had a problem with them and will continue to get tickets through them.

Be safe.

I usually go through Mike Damone, but I did get Yankees tickets for a game a week before the old stadium closed through StubHub. The fees are excessive, but it wasn't too bad of a deal. Sold out shows are the worst - the prices stay pretty high for them - and for playoff/ World Series tickets. Expect to pay at least double the face value plus fees for a popular event. The 15% fees add up pretty quickly.................

Has worked out really well for me on several occasions. Just check the service charges. We paid a $160.00 service charge for 4 tickets to Bama game last year.

I've only used them once and kind of have mixed feelings.......My daughter waits two weeks before the date of the show she wanted to see, to ask if we could go. I tried Ticketbastered first but no go, "SOLD OUT." So, I go to SH, long story short, 2 - 17 dollar Gen. Admin. tickets cost me 100 dollars when it was all said and done. Oh, and the show wasn't even close to being sold out...... I realize it was last minute so to speak but I think that was a little high to say the least......But the things we do for our kids.

You were willing to pay that price and the seller was willing to accept that price, so by definition they were priced "just right". Econ 101.
