I'm listening now, but early in the interview, he mentions a member of the road crew who did a lot of the taped interviews that were used for this book. He never mentions him by name in radio interviews, and he never mentions him by name in the book. We all know who it is, and it's a shame that for all this person has done to perpetuate the Allman Brothers Band legacy, Gregg won't even say his name nor give him credit for his contributions to the book. So, I raise a toast to this unnamed person and say thanks for all you did for the band and being the bridge between the fans and the band. We all know your contributions and they won't be forgotten by your friends. SALUTE!!

Ran into this person at Starbucks next to he Beacon in March. Got to chat for a while. I told him there would be no Big House if not for his efforts.

I wonder if the reason he isn't mentioned are legal in nature?

Those were my thoughts, Alan. Probably part of a legal agreement/settlement.

Just crazy this whole book thing. While I enjoyed it, Im not sure if it was such a good idea to air everything out. Gregg is taking some licks on this by all sorts, many here which is also surprising. In the end I love the man for his music and how he choose or chooses to live his life is his bidness!!

Another person "who will remain nameless" mentioned to me a few years back that the first person who remains nameless in this.. was caught stealing ... and selling some of Duane's possessions which were meant for his daughter to have, and it wasn't a picture or pic, or a note it was much BIGGER... This was huge and Gregg has not gotten over that apparently and there may be legal issues involved... does anyone know that story ??

So.... no matter what the good is that you do...If you do something~ so bad~ ..it wipes out all the good... and this is what remains....

Just saying ..... if anyone knows more please can you explain... no names is understandable.. but I would like to know that the information I received was / is correct ??

I'm interested in knowing also, Rainy. I oftentimes wondered how come that person was out of the picture so quickly, and (relatively) silently.

Bruce.. because he was stealing from the ABB organization... sometimes and this is just theory... when you are involved with something LONG enough LONG LONG.. the lines become meshed... no beginning, no end... more blurred I guess and you start thinking well that is mine.. I can take that... again not me..but I can see where that can happen..especially if there were no lines in tact to begin with...

It wasn't my intention to open this can of worms. I just wanted to give a friend a shout out.

Not really a can of worms Dave. I'm sure a lot of people are wondering why such an important figure in this bands history, wasn't named in such an important autobiography of this bands history!

Thanks Dave for the mention of the person in the first place. He surely did a lot for the ABB.

Honestly, I cant see how any of this is anyones business to begin with..

I enjoyed the interview....Im sorry for all the fallings out, I wish them all well..but that's where I draw the line.

Kind of arrogant questioning a man's business decisions and/or personal family/ friendship relationships imho.

It might be more of their business than you think. Of course I'm sure he goes around all the time asking people if they're interested, are you sure and when.

After reading his book I don't think he even likes women except for one thing and his recent engagement does nothing to change my opinion of that. Neither do some of his recent comments in interviews. (I'm glad I read the book).

I thought he was an amazing artist and I still do. I thought he was a ladies man and I still do.

I think he loves music.

Dave, you asked why this person was not mentioned and you got a possible answer. It just sounds like it was not the answer you wanted to hear.

We fans only know a small part of the complete history of the Allman Brothers. There are lots of things that don't make sense, because of all the information to which we are not privy, and we are probably better off that way.

I thought I heard or saw Gregg say roadie before so that threw me off when I heard it.
I just don't think some were happy about how much he made off the big house thing.

As a UK fan, he who is not named, was instrumental in organising [at a distance & before emails] for me to have backstage passes, access all areas & meet Gregg & the band in '91. Before that, the other unamed person [a lady??] was also very gracious, again via the Les Brers fanzine in enhancing my experience of the band & its music. I know nothing of what happened except to say its a real shame & there must be a lot of hurt there. With all the mistakes Gregg has made along the way that he may be a tad more forgiving than he appears................

I think when you say certain things to people you owe it them to speak to them. Unless it was just a joke, which I don't think it was and either way he's an ***.

"Another person" also told me a similar story. I doubt it was the same one who told you, Rainy.
I know just a little more, but prefer not to share it. It was not good.

Gregg is not a person who fires people. He may send someone else to do it.
Whatever happened Gregg grew very angry and drove from his home to Macon
to see that person and fired him personally. May be a lot more than we know to this story.

I am no candidate for President of the Kirk West Fan Club. I never liked Kirk and he didn't like me. So it goes, sometimes people don't get along in life. We can't all be best friends.

But I feel like it's only fair to say that, whatever wrong Kirk may have done, he also made a lot of fans very happy and did a lot for this community. This very website, which was named after a magazine he co-founded, might not exist if not for him.

Exactly Rob. Les Brers was a lifeline in music terms, I'm proud to have every copy & just the other day I pulled a couple of copies out just to remind myself how far it has all come since the arid mid '80's & here we are now picking over a book, debating countless interviews all instantly online, my how things change is some respects yet not so much on others.
