I was arrested at Chastain Park(Mule/Dr John) for taking a pull off a joint. Stupid I know, but everyone around us was doing it and I said how good it smelled and the guy beside me gave me a free joint.

Now, I know I should have headed away from the crowd, but as I said it was floating around like wildfire. Even from the stage itself. But, wouldn't you know it, they targeted my ass and I got arrested.

It wasn't the most pleasant experience I have ever had. I couldn't get through to the sitter down in Florida to let her know what was going on and she even called the Atlanta police dept asking if I were in jail and they told her no.

She said Mom got up at midnight the night I was arrested and grabbed her hand and told her that she knew something bad was going on, but she didn't know what and that Mom paced the floors till 5AM.

The jail guards down at Atlanta CDC are the biggest **** s in the world, they lied to me, they claimed they were trying to help me, when actually they weren't. They made sure they impounded my rental car, so I had an additional 350 dollar charge on my bill. Made sure I couldn't make my flight, which cost me an extra 400 bucks to get another flight once I got out of jail, plus while I was in jail A FEMALE GUARD TOLD ME WHEN I TOLD HER I WAS TRYING TO MAKE SURE MY MOTHER WHO WAS DYING WAS OKAY AND SHE REPLIED I DON'T GIVE A GODDAMN ABOUT YOUR MOTHER IN A LOUD TONE.

Just one example of the many things that happened to me while visiting Atlanta. I was handcuffed, shackled, ridiculed beyond anything I have ever witnessed, etc. For what? Toking a single joint?

Wow, I bet the Atlanta tax payers would love to know this, but as far as I am concerned Atlanta, Georgia can kiss my rosey red ass because I am done with it and not because of the fair citizens, who helped me through this mess, but the local law enforcement, whose Gestapo tactics at pinpointing tourists paid off for them in a big way. There is a guy who works there(Chastain) said I was targeted as well.

I was put in a cell block with 40 some other inmates, all of whom were black, but I made friends with about all of them and they were very nice to me and one even offered to come help me get a car and a flight out after I was supposed to have been released this Friday. I got bailed out Tuesday. They even cheered when I left.

If I would have been able to get ahold of my sitter I would have rode out their punishment and laughed about it, but they purposely did things in a manner, so I would miss my flight, be late on returning the car, etc.

And for what? A pull of a simple joint. My friends in Georgia I love you all dearly, but if you keep putting people in power who do this to average, ordinary, tax paying, law abiding citizens, then you'll have this problem for years to come.

I had planned this trip on a 500 dollar budget, got a flight, car, and room, but after this fiasco I have a bill of close to 1800 bucks.
My question is. Was it worth it? I will never set foot in Atlanta again.

I know someone who only spends 500 bucks isn't much, but I wonder how many others have been turned off by this kind of crap.

This story has been condensed. There's so many wild things that went on I can't begin to describe. I need to put out a book!
Pax

I'm sorry to hear it, brother. Sometimes I feel like an outcast in my own state (my family has lived in Georgia for 200 years) because the overwhelming majority support this kind of thing. As far as civil rights and drug policy go, I guess we're the most backward state in the Union. And the state budget is in complete shambles, but each year money spent on drug enforcement continues to rise. The focus is almost squarely put on marijuana, while local and state officials ignore the meth epidemic. I can't account for it, and I certainly can't defend it.

Here in Ohio you probably would have got a ticket and no arrest.

I have bruises on my arm where a local law officer felt it was necessary to use excessive force in apprehending me. He kept daring me to run. I said hey buddy you got me, I'm 56 yrs old I ain't going anywhere. I was left on the back of a golf cart for 2 hours. Hands cuffed behind my back. My friggin right should is killing me like nobody's business and I even asked them if they wouldn't mind using two pairs of cuffs, to which I was told to shut up.

Derek, in Ohio I have had many cops tell me put that thing out. Some officers and other high officials back home and I have toked together.

So sorry to read of your experience.

I so miss the 70's! Back then, either the entire venue was partaking, or the security guards (usually off-duty cops) would give you a warning.

Over-reacted? Sounds like their actions were a little extreme. As bad as your experience was, it serves to remind the rest of us times have certainly changed! A harmless, victimless crime for sure. But I think municipalities are more about raising revenue these days.

I have been ... stoopidly careless at a couple of shows in the recent past. I'll certainly be more careful - better yet, cease all inside-venue partaking altogether!

Again, so sorry to hear of your nightmare!

Rusty, they had many opportunities to let me pay my bail or pay my fine. First, this one guard took me down to this office and there was thing peripheral card swiping device connected to a computer. Well, the lady there said it wasn't ready, but would be in 15minutes.
He wouldn't take me back and when I told other guards about it they yelled at me and told me I was a liar, then took me to an ATM machine like I didn't know the difference. Yeah, a certified Apple Computer technician who doesn't know the difference between a card swipping device and an ATM?

They had to have spent a lot more than the 590bucks they got from the fine. Heck the place is loaded with all kind of power tripping guards, who thought my 5 day sentence was over on Friday, that would have only been 4 days, maybe that explains your lack of any other skills that would help you find another job where you might require some grey matter.

They reminded me of how I read or heard about Vietnam POW's experiences. They kept me awake for over 30 hours. What kind of **** is that?

You were incarcerated for multiple days for smoking a joint? Is that common? Is there more to the story? I'm not questioning you , it's just incredible to me...

I'm sorry that happened to you.

I wasn't misbehaving, not drinking anything other than Coke, just enjoying some killer music. Folks all around me were firing up and I said man that sure smells good and the guy beside me handed me a joint. I offered him some money, to which he said no, so I noticed he was drinking a beer and said dude I'll go get you a cold one and he said when he was ready that would be fine.
But, the **** was flying around me like nobody's business and a guy I know from Macon was next to me, so I fired it up.
I need to post the bruises on my arm I got from being rough housed by the arresting **** who dared me to try to get away to which I replied, man, I ain't going nowhere pal. I don't run, I'm 56.
Asswipe slung me around showing off. Karma is a bitch buddy you'll find out! My right shoulder is in bad shape. Ugh

I wonder how many drunken fights, muggings. car jackings etc....you know the typical ATL stuff was going on while Atlanta's dumbest were making their world safe by removing this dangerous drug fiend from our midst! Can you say set up like a bowling pin....? Someday these dumb mofos are gonna get theirs. They don't sound much different from PD's anywhere else tho unfortrunately.
I can see the Chief's campaign slogan now,"Making the streets of Atlanta safe, one joint at a time".

It's part of his charm

Seriously to resize the photo, just click edit and in the first img bracket change it to say img=650x400 then the end bracket. That should do it. You can experiment with sizes. 650 6.5", 400 = 4.00", etc. Good luck.

I am trying to explain to you that I am not having one bit of a problem viewing this. It is large for a purpose. I'm not trying to show anything off here, just trying to warn folks about what's going on.
Maybe you can see the finger prints, maybe not? Sorry for the quick remark

Hey Steve thats crazy... I was once thrown out of a dolphins pre-season game for burning on the turnstyle at halftime but that was it they walked me to the gate and said have a nice day. And coming from south florida where Cops was made famous you just might think it would be much worse. I just dont understand how folks can get stupid drunk in a event and attempt to drive home thats considered ok. Lighting up some tasty buds is dangerous?

Skypup, I should have mentioned above that I'm very sorry for the brutality you suffered. There is no excuse for what they did to you and what it cost you.
