What's the need? -- Talbot has been awesome too, stoning in their red hot tracks last nite the Sens in Ott (thank you NYR...) -- they'd won 15 of 17 (Ott)

We're on our 2nd 6-game losing streak in the last seven weeks -- Nothing bouncing our way -- last night, unbelievable -- what a continuation of things

We're not the team we were a year ago, #1 -- #2, playoffs would be less-stress hockey than stretch run & IF we found a way in...

so we go from thanking them to spanking them tmrw aftrn -- c'mon Broonz, what is this **** t -- playoffs are now boys, turn it up

would be funny if we get Bruins/Kings final. Both teams on the verge of making or missing the party but if they get in, who wants to play them round 1??? very tough tournament shaping up this year. I think any team can come out of the east and don't expect anything less than 6 game series all the way through.

In the west, i think only St Lous, LA teams and possible the Hawks can get through. I think Nashville needs more scoring and Minnesota will be burnt out by time playoffs start.

will be some interesting first round match ups and am looking forward to everyones predictions.

Rangiz did us favah last week, we repaid w/a W over them
Same thing this week -- if fellow O-6er Wings hold up their end of the bargain tonite, so will we -- then, in like fashion, gratitude w/Thurs nite W
If it plays out that way, we'd be fairly solid for playoffs -- Fla is troublesome, we'll have our hands full tonite
Let's Go Bahstin Brooonz -- nothing's come easy this year

The slate of games tonite rivals any playoff series IMO
Ott beat Wings 2-1 Tues in Det. -- it was nowhere near that close -- Nats dominated start to finish (see SOG), and that, even after a video tribute to/from Mr. Hockey on the occasion of his 87th birthday

TB visits Ott tonite, we have Wings -- Ott is probly best team in league right now -- that game will tell Plenty -- TB has played good all year long -- not since Wayne "Swoop" Carleton & the WHA Ottawa Nationals were in town ( hehe), has there been this much excitement in the capital city

we're in that gray area -- we need help from others to get in, yet only 4 pts out of 4th place -- a win tonite would be epically big -- Howard benched in favor of Mrszak, Mrszak showed why too against Ott

Vanc plays ChiHawks tonite -- 'nucks only a point behind Hawks -- pivotal -- NYR-MN, another awesome matchup w/Large playoff implications

Cup-champ Kings will pull into tie for 8th with Calgary after tonite -- LA has Edmntn, Flames in St.L -- rooting for Jets & Flames for 7th & 8th --

We Have To Slap Det. Tonight In Same Fashion Sens Did, only by a 4-1 score or so -- Carolina beating Fla would be big help 2 -- let's go B's

season is ending on a terrific high. cannot wait for playoffs to begin, the first and second rounds are so awesome, 2 or 3 games a night of great action. so many stories this year, can Lundquest come back, can Kings rise from the dead, is the Montreal's year, where is Sydney and the Pens? can Ovi carry Caps like he has all season , will Kane come back and all the new blood, Preds, Wild, Isles all dangerous teams

2 big wins for the Hawks - blow a 2-0 lead to be down 3-2 with 2 minutes left, and score 2 goals in 47 seconds on Buffalo ...... win over Vancouver last night was needed.............

Ya the tie-breaking procedure looks like it'll come into play to determine final teams
East Conf teams relieved that best-in-conf. right now, CBJ, aren't in playoffs -- only a goal in last :30 seconds for NYR forced the OT>SO last night at MSG

the ripple effect from the slate of games tonite goes far/wide -- wouldn't mind seeing Ott beat Pitt -- keeps alive our chances of overtaking Pitt going into Huge game tmrw in DC, who we can also overtake (mathematically )
flip side, Ott winning ties them w/us & 2 others for final 2 spots -- "anything can happen" is having a field day in final week

For 1st time in his 10 yeeahs there, no playoffs for Joe T & SJS -- race is no diffrnt in west conf -- every game tonite, cru-cial -- defending Cup-champ Kings could be bounced -- possibly 5 Canadian teams in it, would be record -- crazy

We Can Just As Quickly Be Bounced Out Ourselves, As Finish 4th or 5th -- We Smoke U Tmrw, Cap-pistols -- Let's Go B's

Could this be the final run of the Sens
Let's Go Broonz

The Rangers are looking good and strong. I will never feel confident until the cup is being lifted by Ryan McDonagh but still...When everyone went nuts after we lost some players after last season I predicted the team would be even stronger. Enjoy these times Ranger fans. Win or lose its something special.

Lets go Rangers--will be a tough ride just about any of the 16 teams can win the cup this year. Looking forward to games next week but the finish of the regular season is pretty remarkable after 80 games, coming down to the final 2 for many teams.

Nothing special about losing. You want special then win like in 1994. To be special in the NHL they need to have their names engraved on the Stanley Cup.

You always say that and yes if the Rangers fail to win the Cup as the best team in the NHL it will be a disapointment but I totally disagree that its win it all or there's nothing special. Only one out of 30 plus teasm can win the whole thing and winning series qare fun and special. Getting to the finals last year was special. In College Hoops getting to the Final Four is special.

I'm with Pete. Nothing special about losing unless something makes it standout. NYR are an aging team that needs to win this season. Great team but not that much better than the others from the East if at all. Not sure what would make it a special season if they get knocked out.

Now special is what the Hamburglar has done in Ottawa. Including his third shut out during his incredible stretch after last night's win over the NYR. 19-1-2 for a guy who was never going to play a game in the NHL. That is special.

Even better if they make it into the playoffs. Even though that may put Stephen's Bruins on the outside.

Winnipeg reboots their franchise and are back in the playoffs.

Can one of my Canadian friends here explain just why in the hell the Maple Leafs cannot ever get their act together? I have never been able to figure out how the team in one of Canada's jewel cities can be so bad year over year.

There are actual books the try and solve that problem.

The Leafs have not had a steady guiding hand for a long time. Ferguson Jr. as the G was bad and he made lots of bad moves. Burke was an improvement but then they went down again.

The media is insane and non-stop and have far to much influence.

Slim is enroute outta town James --
a miracle might help -- ChiHawks looking good

"It's hard to put stuff into words right now. We're certainly not satisfied and are very disappointed," said LA Kings center Anze Kopitar. "We just didn't play good enough hockey this year. Too much inconsistency, four and five-game losing streaks, and you can't do that. It's too tough coming down the stretch, this time of year, to be playing catch-up."

This was the B's year too -- almost to a T. We're not out yet, but...we play TB, Pitt plays Buff....

Pens lose to the Islanders last night and make the final night very interesting.

Ottawa just needs a point this afternoon vs Philly. These guys deserve to make the playoffs. Young guys starting to come of age. They won't be sneaking in next year. They end the season with 6 guys with 20 goals and two that would have had twenty barring injuries. No team spreads offence like that. Throw in a McDonald's Character Goalie and who knows?

I am hoping for Ottawa and Boston to make it.

Potential for 5 Canadian teams in the playoffs, Bettman must be pissed.

Go Hawks Go!

Sorry Stephen - Boston was so good down that stretch too. So hard for Ottawa to make up ground as they didn't lose often either. I honestly thought Buffalo might do you a favor last night and beat the Pens. With last place locked up, Buffalo was finally free to play to win.

St Louis over Minn in games.
Chicago over Nash in 6
Winn over Ducks in 7
Calgary over Van in 6

Ottawa over Montreal in 5 (Ronald can't save MTL from the Hamburglar-Robble Robble)
Tampa over Detroit in 6 (Sorry Jack)
NYR over Pitt in 5
Wash over NYI in 6

Funny how sports can jog memories. As I put in predictions, I thought about how our Spacemonkey would have loved Ov's season and how Jack would have been convinced that Detroit would win the Cup.

I'm sure both of them are smiling from Heaven and with Divine Inspiration they both understand now that Chicago is the obvious winner.

No worries Mike as Leaf fans also get to realize this in the after life. They just don't do it from Heaven.

It was the first high-profile signing of ther upstart new league, and it was in Winnipeg -- signing with the Jets gave the league "instant credibility" they said -- "Bobby, you're set for life," they added -- indeed look at the check -- it wasn't just the Jets, to get the Golden Jet the whole league kicked in

Now, here comes Anaheim & what if Bobby makes a return appearance in 3rd/4th games -- they claim him as their own same as Chicago does -- he's the Golden Jet in Chicago, Mr. Jet in Wnpg -- either way Jets win -- gaudy record & all, AMD early exit again...

what a league that was -- the Avco World Cup was its Stanley Cup -- the NY Blades, LA Sharks (w/Bart Crashley), Philadelphia Blazers (they got Pie & Turk), Cleveland Barons (Cheesie), Ottawa Nationals (Wayne "Swoop" Carleton) -- & the short-lived Miami Screaming Eagles -- who probly could've beaten us last weekend in Miami the way we played...

Even Mr. Hockey himself got into the act -- he was no fool -- seeing the $$$ being thrown around, came outta a 2-year retirement for it -- "Bobby, if this ain't the gig or what" Gordie is saying --

way down in Houston, where they don't know pucks from cowflop, they remember Gordie -- played 4 good seasons w/sons Mark, Marty & the Houston Aeros, averaging 100 pts his first 3 seasons -- then at the ripe ol age of 50 something, played 1 last year in the NHL, 1977-78 or so -- went 15-26-41 for the NE Whaliz in Hartford, Conn.

the WHA didn't last long (sorta like football's USFL back in the day), but it was a financial success for the many who jumped leagues

Boston Bruins Fire General Manager Peter Chiarelli
by Nicholas Goss on Wed, Apr 15, 2015 at 10:57AM

The Boston Bruins have fired general manager Peter Chiarelli, the team announced Wednesday.

“We are grateful for Peter’s service to the Bruins organization over the last nine seasons,” Bruins president Cam Neely said in a statement. “His efforts undoubtedly helped the team achieve great success during his tenure and he helped restore the proud tradition of Boston Bruins hockey. We ultimately feel that this change is necessary in order to ensure sustainable success for the club both in the short term and the long term. Our search for a new General Manager will begin immediately.”

No other front office or coaching changes have been made at this time, per the release. An interim general manager has not been named. The Bruins missed the playoffs this season, which snapped a seven-year postseason appearance streak. Boston won a Stanley Cup in 2010-11, made another Cup Final appearance in 2012-13 and posted a 386-233-85 regular-season record during Chiarelli’s tenure with the club, which began in 2006.
