No Canadian teams in the playoffs absolutely stinks.

I blame Bettman.

They are all at various stages of falling apart/rebuilding depending on who you listen to.

Montreal is the same for a while. Too small, too Euro and not tough enough. Price alone can't do it and they showed what they are without him.

Ottawa is young but has gaps that are definite question marks. Should trade Karllson and cash in on him. Not like they will win a Cup because he is there. His contract is sweet and teams would give up the farm for him. Edmonton and Ottawa are such obvious trade partners as each one has what the other needs. McDavid and Karllson would leading the league in scoring like Orr and Espo did. Look what Karllson does playing with stiffs. Still at the top of league scoring.

Toronto is terrible and may be actually doing it right for a change. If they stick slow then great but if they rush out on free agents then maybe not. Time will tell.

Winnipeg should have made it but had slips and they have tough competition.

Calgary is good and getting better but again the competition ahead of them is just better.

Edmonton is just a mess because they drafted the same type of player over and over so there is no balance. When it comes to trades, they want too much or want to keep everyone. After all these picks, they should be a Cup favorite. Call Ottawa for that trade immediately. Karllson, Methot and Neil for Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov, prospect and next years 1st and 2nd Round Draft Picks. Sign a free agent solid defenseman and use this years draft pick to get another defense and not a damn center! If they do that plus pick up another hard ass besides Neil and they compete for the Cup next year. So I guess the solution for Edmonton is to hire me to run things. Karllson already plays over 30 minutes per game and so will McDavid. Both on the ice at the same time? Holy Crap!

Vancouver is old and not good and the veterans are pussies. they should exit their Euro stage.

I blame Bettman for much but not these teams missing the playoffs.

St.L-ChiHawks is a finals-worthy 1st-rounder
While he probably won't be back, the consensus among some is Claude Julien did a great job this year -- he got the most out of a team of, outside of the nucleus, a not-great bunch he had to mix & match players/positions with etc
the flop, however, culminated by that unsightly finale, is too tough to stomach -- could be time to part ways

ChiHawks-St.L, pick em
AMD over Nash
SJ over LA
Dal S.Stahs in 7 over MN North Stars

RIP Mr. Snider, Philly Flyers founder -- they'll resemble the Broad St. Bullies -- & the bunch that beat us 3-0, and 3-0 in 2010 -- gaudy record & all Wash will fall they aren't Cup material

Flyiz in 6
Rangiz-Pen, Tough Pick -- NYR in 7
Isles & Wings 2, Fla. 0

The headline is yesterdy's Herald might've said it best -- to get better, the Bruins might need to get worse first

I did.

The Hawks Regular Season starts in April and ends with a parade.

Then they get arrested in the summer.

It is a cycle.

I have been saying the same for years.

Was offered a much lower position with the Sens years ago but not a bad deal and it would have been sports as opposed to music which was enticing. Then during some business dealings, they pissed me off and left a sour taste. Some amazing people and over the years, they have brought in even better people at various positions. Would love it now.

It was unfortunate but it was kids getting screwed over in the situation and I had to deal with many pissed off parents who had every right to be pissed off. I was stuck in the middle and the Sens could have so easily dealt with it. But they dropped the ball. After months of back and forth, they tried to make good and by then the damage was done for the parents.

During the ordeal, I passed on the job.

Maybe if I had taken the offer, I would be GM by now.

Or selling beer in the stands.

Opinions would be the same.

I love the Playoffs. Distracting year and haven't watched as much hockey as usual. Son plays on 3 basketball teams so I am on tour with that whenever not working.

My daughter comes to some games especially if my wife works. Some moron chats with me on the weekend about how an old bastard like me scored a hot young wife. It was borderline laugh or hit him. She is 24. Guess that makes my wife the Grandmother. LOL - Don't tell her I said that.

Go Hawks!

True that -- all roads, as they usually do go thru the Windy City -- if ChiHawks do make finals it'd be easy compared with conf playoffs -- that St.L series sucks bro (I mean to pick, + 1 top-shelf team out early)

count me in too, xclnt post on the Canadian teams

B's shouldn't blow up roster/get rid of veterans/fire coach/panic etc etc etc -- the roster has been picked apart little by little over the past few seasons -- little comeback for the great players no longer here who we won with -- Unhappy Times For B's Fans

St. Louis in 7 - Anybody but Date Rape Kane
Anaheim in 7 - Cory Perry is the **** and they have goaltending this year
LA in 7 - Milan Lucic will bring back the hurt

Just to add, Wash Anaheim in SC for all the back bacon.

Even though THE VICTIM"S MOM came into "possession" of the rape kit ON HER DOORSTEP?

HUH? How did THAT happen?

Can you say, setup?

Can you say, Deep Pockets?

Look, Kane is no saint, and a knucklehead on top of it - that was well established when he and his brother drunkenly beat the crap out of that cab driver AFTER screwing the guy out of, like. 27 cents. The guy is a scumbag as well as an idiot.

But this case has smelled to High Heaven from the get - go.

I'm naturally biased being such a huge Hawks fan, but I am in total agreement that the case was a total set-up.

As far as the cab incident, he went to court, accepted the charges, performed the court-ordered apology to the driver.

I won't go with scumbag, though...if doing drunken stupid s--t when you are 22 makes you one, well, then there's a lot of scumbags.

It's the right thing to do -- the irony of being honored w/accolades while we were on way out of playoffs for 2nd time in 2 years, wasn't lost on any1 -- it washitty timing -- bravo Mike Sweeney & B's -- he IS that -- a great coach -- Julien to return -- loyalty in pro sports -- it's as rare as it is refreshing to see

now we have to take a new approach -- KEEP the Reilly Smiths, the Johnny Boychucks, Nathan Hortons, Lootches, Seguins, Widemans.........& try to establish more continuity around the nucleus -- which is not any younger next year but they're still top players -- Zdeno? hopefully he feels up to 1 more year -- our D was inconsistent this year but he was still our top defenseman

2 years in a row of being bounced at 11th hour, while most of time playing winning caliber of hockey......that didn't compute to points -- we never got on a roll -- same thing, 2 yrs ion a row --

well, like the Sox this year, the B's will come back Slammin' next year

good luck to playoff teams, if ChiHawks get by St.L, They Make Finals -- same thing as the GSW-Spurs basketball playoffs -- Blues 2nd to no 1, would only get more winnable for Cup champs if they bounced Blues --- Pete Kelly's Blues they ain't

I won't use the term " rapist " without knowing the facts . I have no problem using the term " Clutch " as Kane is possibly the best clutch player in the league right now , loved that OT winner , beat the Blues .

Oilers need a good veteran on defence , they have plenty good young talent on D with Nurse ( first round pick ) Klefbom ( another first round pick if he can stay healthy ) and the big surprise of the year Brandon Davidson , also Griffin Reinhart and Jordan Oesterle ( who is progressing nicely ) are in the pipeline . Bring in a solid vet .

ChiHawks go home knowing they're better than most of remaining teams -- one of 3 O6 bounced in 1st round -- more than what can be said for the other 3
that game 7 tonight will be almost as good -- I foresee AMD -- giving me -- 4-3 -- you & Ipow-ree if it's amD -- tied for 1st

Pitts Gets Caps
NYI>TB
St.L>Dallas
SJ>AMD/Nash

bad stat on Shahks tho -- this is 5th time since 2006 they've gone into a playoff series w/a week's rest -- all 4 times, Bounced -- playoffs haven't been kind to them or AMD -- Ducks had best stretch of regular-season play -- rooting for them 2nite

It's posts like this -- I understand
quote:

Anaheim is on a 23-4-2 streak -- no matter who wins Stanley Cup, the titlist won't have topped that level of play -- same token, Wash is no lock to go all the way -- I think NYR will show that 2nite -- great games all around

Joe Thornton, 36, league's top scorer w/46 points since Dec. 15 -- SJ I think will make West finals b4 AMDucks or LA

Shahks in 7 Cranking games over Pete Kelly's Blues, 3 of which go to OT -- thought it'd get easier as playoffs went along, for StL-ChiHawks winner -- after all, "Blues 2nd to no 1, would only get more winnable for Cup champs if they bounced Blues" --
but a real interesting matchup, far more so than a SJ-Pitts final
Pens>TB

let's go Bruuins -- black & gold, all the way

ya to be a fly on THIS chatroom wall

Only winning the Cup, he has said, could for Joe Thornton top the thrill of being in this photo of Bruins greats
now, all these years later, here's his chance

not just Joe, but, nearing retirement after 18 years in SJ, what could be sweeter than a Cup for all-time Shahk Patrick Marleau

all those SJ playiz -- Joe, Pavlevski & Tomas Hertl are a Slick combo -- their PP, w/Pavleski & Brent Burns, a scoring machine --

many Shahks have been in the Tank a long time -- they make a point of keeping their key players -- Joe 10 years after 7 in Boston -- Pavleski (9), their D Marc-Eduard V (9), Couture 7....are you listening B's

Pens, what a squad this playoff season -- Cup resides in Calif this offseason -- SJ 6
