Report cited by Bachmann claims Norquist linked to Muslim Brotherhood

By Eric W. Dolan
Sunday, July 22, 2012 11:11 EDT

Anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist helped the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrate the U.S. government, according to the report that Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) cited in an attack on top State Department aide Huma Abedin.

Earlier this month, Bachmann and four other Republicans sent a letter to inspectors general in the State, Homeland Security, Defense and Justice departments calling on them to investigate “potential Muslim Brotherhood infiltration” of the Obama administration by Abedin, an aide to Secretary Clinton and wife of former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY).

As evidence of their claims, the five Republicans cited “The Muslim Brotherhood in America: The Enemy Within,” a ten-part video course produced by the Center for Security Policy.

The movies claim that the “Muslim Brotherhood was helped in its efforts to achieve information dominance over the George W. Bush administration” by Norquist, a Christian. The influential anti-tax activist is also accused of using “various organizations to promote Islamist agendas.”

Nearly every Republican in Congress has signed Norquist’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge, vowing to oppose any and all tax increases. Only 14 Republican members of 112th Congress have refused to sign the pledge.

Bachmann has been widely criticized for her attack on Abedin. Republicans like House Speaker John Boehner, Arizona Sen. John McCain, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former Bachmann campaign manager Ed Rollins have all condemned the Minnesota congresswoman. But she has insisted the matter needs to be investigated.

“The letters my colleagues and I sent on June 13 to the Inspectors General of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and the Department of State – and the follow up letter I wrote to Rep. Ellison on July 13 – are unfortunately being distorted,” Bachmann said last week.

“I encourage everyone, including media outlets, to read them in their entirety. The intention of the letters was to outline the serious national security concerns I had and ask for answers to questions regarding the Muslim Brotherhood and other radical group’s access to top Obama administration officials.”

Wasn't Norquist a registered Lobbyist at one time?

Thanks for the clarification, Bhawk....Interesting how those who clamor for less gov't often are the one's who benefit from it the most. That is to say, feed from its trough their entire career.

Bachmann is one real whack job. You really have to wonder what on earth the voters in Minnesota see in her. It's always some weird anti American issues she seems to raise. There's a definite pattern with her actions.

And yet another "small gov't" conservative who's spent much of her career, ahem, working for the gov't.

Bachmann is a bat $hit crazy moron and represents the very worst of our government. It completely amazes me that someone as stupid and crazy as Bachmann could get elected as dog catcher much less for Congress!!!

No, bat $hit crazy moron is good enough for her, Palin and those like them. I try to be a little more respectful of women even if they are bat $hit crazy. A woman would have to lower themselves to the Casey Anthony level for me to refer to them as a scumbag!

He does have associations with groups which support radical Islam. This has been known for a long time. At least she's not partisan in her attacks.

I'm guessing she wished she never brought it up. Bachmann's original target was Clinton's aide. No where does she mention that Norquist should be looked into.

Are you saying he lobbies for these groups? For a fee, of course?

I wasn't aware of his business dealings with these groups. I say this in jest of course, but I'm surprised someone hasn't used these associations to suggest that his "No Tax" pledge is one big conspiracy of radical Islam to bankrupt the United States government.

Yeah but Grover is the anti-tax czar and he and his friends share the distinction of being the only true Americans. Maybe Grover was working with the Muslims only to gather intelligence for counter terrorism purposes... Well, more likely it was for a nice pay day but that's beside the point.... What, do you think Grover has the morals of a common hooker ?

"A photograph of Mr. Bush taken with al-Arian in March 2000 subsequently received considerable attention after the professor was arrested last February on 40 terrorism-related counts. Of particular concern are those alleging his functional direction over the past 19 years of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, one of the most murderous terrorist organizations in the Middle East."

Who was it that pals around with terrorists again?

Why must everything be seen through a lens of Bush vs. Obama. This same group complained just as hard when the Bush administration ignored ties of American groups to radical Islam. This has nothing to do with Bush or Obama. Everybody pals around with these people.

Yes, that same group did complain back then, but it didn't make headlines. Only one side gets called out for "paling around with terrorists" over and over so much that some people start to believe it.

As Chain said, thats for the link. It was an interesting read.
