After sitting and playing the song a few times in a row, I do believe this is the proper way to play this amazingly beautiful song.

If you have additional questions or changes you can post them here or PM me.

Enjoy guys - hope it helps. I'll try to add a couple of more HTN tunes soon..

Eddie...

"Desdemona"

Intro
A flat maj7 / Fm7/ Cm7/ G7

Cm7 / G7........ Cm7...............F9
Rain falls on a sleepy Southern town

A-flatmaj7...... Fm ...... Cm7............ G7
The midnight moon is burning brightly

Cm7...............G7.......Cm7............F9
Memories rush in---------like a river flows along

A-flatMaj7 ................. C#...... G7
As you lay----------- sleeping without me

A Flat maj7.. / Fm............. G7.. / Cm7
The highway song keeps me rollin' on

A Flat maj 7.......C#.......G7
Still I............. long for you

C / C (add Low A)....................F /....... G FlatDim... G7
Desdemona,......I will be......your only one, oh yeah.

(Repeat chords from first verse)
I make my living pouring out my pain,
Trying to make it through another day.
Arms reach for me - on the wind I can feel them,
They're a thousand miles away.
And eyes remind me of everything that's beautiful and blue
I won't be myself 'til I'm with you

Desdemona, I will be your only one, oh yeah

Jam is over: Cm7 / Gm7 in 6/8 time with Jazz swing feel.

Derek Solo> Chords out of Dereks solo are: A flat maj7 / Fm7 / Cm7 / G7

Warren Solo> Chords out of Warrens solo are: A flat maj 7 / C# / G7

(Same chords as first 2 verses)

Hold a candle as the darkness fades
Night time sleeps, but not for long
My heart is pounding like the ocean
My soul's empty as the sky,
I know someday I'll be coming home
Time goes by like the twinkling of an eye
Still I burn for you.

Desdemona, I will be your only one, oh yeah

C /.............. E flat / F / G
I just want to be the only one
C /............ E flat / F / G
I just want to be the only one

..................... C... (Bummmmmm!)
Your only one.
____________________________________________________________________

Here is a footnote:

C / C (add Low A)....................Fm / E flatDim... G7
Desdemona,......I will be......your only one, oh yeah.

G Flat Diminished is played:

E.... 5
B.... 4
G.... 5
D.... 4
A.... X
E.... X

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------
Another note:

As far as the C (Add low A) part is concerned on "Desdemona" you are basically playing a C chord with this fingering (335553) but when you are picking each string when Gregg sings Dessssss-demona you Add a low A note on the 6th string...so its "C" 335553 then "C Add Low A" (5)X555X then back to "C" 335553. The X means mute it or don't play that string.

I hope it makes sense...You are kind of picking the notes there not strumming. I guess that is whats called "Staccato" style, but that is the way to play it. I saw Warren play it that way on the DVD after I wrote it out so I know its correct...

Hey guys, Hammond etc.

Thanks for all your input...

You can use dots........or dashes---------to force the chords to appear above the lyrics so the chords don't get mushed altogether at the beginning of the line. It would be much easier to see where the proper changes are this way. I don't know why that happens, I guess its just a quirk of the forum program...

Thanks....

For example:

………………..G………………………….DM…………AM
You’re the life of the party, everybody's host
…………………C……………………………………..G
Until you need somewhere you can hide
Dm………………………………………………………Am
All your good-time friends, and your fair-weather has-beens
……..C…………………………………………..G
All those were just along for the ride

The one chord that's had me stumped for ages, was that last F# just before Duane's solo. As best as I can figure, it's an F#m7sus4, and can be played like this on the guitar -

Fret numbers, from low to high (using your first, middle and ring fingers): 2-0-2-2-0-0
Hope this helps someone out there.

Eddie P, great thread my friend. I've heard Eddie play a few times and he is awesome. Thanks for sharing here. Here's how we play Ain't wastin' time..

Bb.......Ab6 (4x6564) for the verse.

Eb.........Gm7...................C7...............F____slide back to Bb
I_____ain't wastin' time no more, cause time goes by like hurricanes

Eb....................................Eb7........ Bb
You don't need no gypsy to tell you why

....Eb................................Eb7.....Bb
you can't let one precious day____ slip by

..Eb.................................Eb7.............Bb
But look inside yourself______and if you don't see what you want_

..........F....................
Maybe sometimes then you don't

......Eb7....................................Bb....Ab6
just leave mind alone and just get high...

We use standard barre chords.
Bb 688766
Eb7 x68686
Gm7 353333
C7 x35353
Just one way of doing it. Any and all corrections welcome.

any thoughts on "feel so bad"?
the Brothers did nice version with Little Milton at the One for Woody Concert
not forgetting it's DTB staple.

"feel so bad"
the basics- I-IV-V, the dtb version is in C.
if my memory serves me, dont have a guitar right now
but the line is C-C-C (i kinda hammer from the B flat to C on these) G-B flat-C-B flat- C
and the line goes with the chords, etc.
hope this helps, i hate tab since i play organ as well so i always denote lines in actual notes
