Since 6 pm today, here in Macon and most of middle Ga. we've gone from a slightly cloudy afternoon to tornado watches, severe thunderstorm warnings, rain so thick you couldn't see the road in front of you, hail from 3 inches to nickle and dime size, "straight line" winds of 80 mph (recorded here in Macon) that slowed down to about 60 mph when it got to the Ohoope where Renee lives.
Trees are down across major roads and at last report estimates of those without power run from 30,000 in the Macon area to over 100,000 throughout the areas hardest hit. Reports of trees falling on houses, roofs and porches blown off, and a couple stories about some trailers no longer where they were have come on the news.
Lightening was striking at one point at almost 10,000 strikes in 30 minutes time.

Check out the weather photos at http://www.13wmaz.com

WOW, crazy weather, we had heavy snow then sleet and during the heavy sleet, lightning and thunder yesterday. I had to ask a co-worker did you just see that flash.

Happy First day of Spring tomorrow.

Funny thing. Saturday at Central City Park for the Cherry Blossom Festival the temps were in the mid 70's, nice breeze, a lot of younger ladies in tank tops and short shorts, guys going bare chested, babies playing in the fountains. Lots of sunburned skin seen.
Tonight, freezing rain, sleet, and possible snow flurries.
Now that the grocery stores have been raided of all the milk, bread, and eggs (why does that happen every time someone mentions snow?) I'm waiting to see if the weather does another George Jobin.
In case you're wondering what a George Jobin is, in February 1973 the channel 13 weatherman (George Jobin) predicted temps in the 50's slightly cloudy skies, clearing overnight. Six hours later we had 18 inches of snow in downtown Macon and drifts over six feet at the farm. Closed down the entire mid state area for four days.

No snow or sleet when I woke up. My nephew said his roof was coated pretty good this morning, but he lives about 15 miles north of Macon. Just cold, rainy, wet, drizzly, did I mention cold?
