We all know them, a song that gets airplay, that when you mention a band to a "novice", the song most likely to be mentioned. But you know there's more, so much more.

When I say "cringe" I only mean - if that's all a person knows about the band, they are sorely missing out.

Some examples :

The Allman Brothers Band - Ramblin' Man - an excellent song, but ...

Johnny Cash - A Boy Named Sue - I cringe when this is basically all someone knows

Frank Zappa - Don't Eat The Yellow Snow

Grateful Dead - Touch of Gray - Casey Jones

Your examples?

"Two Princes" -- Spin Doctors. I don't think a successful pop song so perversely doomed any other band. The Doctors are actually a quite good jam-ish band. Try convincing ANYONE to believe that.

However that's not the line, it's more like "...kills me to think of you with another man..." but that's OK

Yeah, but there was a lot of what I'd call pop rock that I like. Particularly from that era, Huey Lewis and Eddie Money. They has a slew of infectious songs that I still love to hear.
