I discovered Elmore James like most of us here...through Duane. After I heard LAFE I went to the Blues section and bought my first blues album. It was an Elmore James album and one of the tunes was this one

Elmore's Contribution To Jazz

Very raw...with searing emotion

Elmore was the first link to the blues I discovered via Duane Allman....

Another cut from that first blues album I bought. Still my favorite blues album

BIGV....Elmore is the man I'm sure there's and big handful of us out there that got caught up in the unbelievable world of the Blues because of Duane

I think I'll just keep covering the first album I bought. There isn't a bad cut on the whole record

It had Elmore in side A and John Brim on Side B The album title was "Street Talkin"

Here's the first Elmore James tune I ever heard. As it was the opening tune to the album

Comin Home

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWoc4cAr0Kk

Lot's of Dust my broom slide in this version and just the raw emotion of these recordings I haven't found anywhere else

Nice to see the Elmore James love. He passed way too young. The first song I remember hearing when I was a kid was Whoose Muddy Shoes? http://www.songstube.net/video.php?title=Whose%20Muddy%20Shoes&artistid =5147&artist=Elmore%20James&id=87198

Elmore's definitely one of my top 5! Nobody plays with such raw passion! I play this one a lot!

It hurts me too closed the Elmore James side of the album and here's that version. My favorite version by far

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=958Gw-tCbmg

How this album was recorded was so primitive yet it captured Elmore at his best with a solid group backing him.

Thanks to Duane and the Allman Brothers band I went on a long journey into electric and acoustic blues. With these recording being the birth of my discovery. I remember the magic I felt when the needle hit the grooves and the sound of Elmore searing slide and his passionate voice came through. I played this album endlessly and it would be a desert Island record for me...

First discovered Elmore through the original Fleetwood Mac. Jeremy Spencer played slide and sang ala Elmore .

Long live the music of Elmore James...

Jeremy Spencer is one of the best Elmore James style players. he really had Elmores sound down. Love the Fleetwood Mac in Chicago album

Here's Elmore version of One Way Out
