So am I - I don't see any reference to a 40th Anniversary of ABB on the print. It's a Duane Allman poster, period to me

Yeah, not my cup of tea either. Not that i'm religous. Looks like something out of a Monty Python movie. More like a parody then a tribute.

Like this art on the same website much more:

I'm not going to try to read between the lines on this one. Somehow I get the impression that Flournoy has some kind of axe to grind with the Allman Brothers.

What has happened to releasing a limited edition poster of the inside of the Eat A Peach LP?

There was a thread about that earlier this year here in the forum.

I think the answer to that is hidden in this print

Presumably this is along the lines that if Clapton was God then Duane was Jesus ... BAD TASTE ...

I wonder if anyone has actually tried saying grace at the dinner table thanking Clapton for the food.

I guess I am in the minority here, I think it is cool. But I love his art, always have. His ideas are always out there, A genius.

I have no problem with it, it's good kitsch. kind of reminds me of the John Coltrane sainthood stuff, I was just wondering what the message was, 40th anniversary of the ABB and only a tribute to Duane.

And the mystery of why there has not been a re-release of the Eat A Peach inner cover in print form.

I LOVE IT!
as far as I'm concerned, Duane IS
the Way, the Truth and the Light
and no one cometh unto slide except
through Duane

hahaha.

There's TONS of Jesus Kitsch out there. This piece is
awesome - you can tell Flournoy did it with love. Duane's
eyes sparkle from the print as if they are alive. A sunburst
Gibson in the flaming heart of Duane? LOVE IT.

Not being religious, I can't take the time to be offended.
I'll take DUANE over ever-insulted fundonutters any day.

Fluornoy can honor Duane's memory any way he wants to.
He did this.
I think it's coool. way coool!

Cheesy. Lame. Creepy. Might feel different if I was still 20 years old and staring at it on my dorm room wall after a bong hit. Also looks photoshopped. Is this really the same artist ?

Not offended by it, but not something I would buy either. Like the Zambiland Orchestra poster for $20 though. I went to one or two of those shows.

HTN tried to come up with an agreement between the ABB and Flournoy regarding the inside cover artwork to EAP but could not make it happen (as much as we wanted to). Around that time we also ran the St. Duane image by Galadrielle - she was against that image being used as a poster.

Agree with the poster re: the Monty Python take. That's what I thought too.

I really enjoyed getting to know Flournoy when we interviewed him for the Photo Session section for HTN75. He is a great artist and his company, Wonder Graphics, contributed two iconic images to the ABB catelog - the 'shroom and the EAP artwork. I wish through the years that he was able to continue to contribute artwork to the ABB catelog. However, the EAP lawsuit kinda killed that.

Hey Joe, was that part of the Universal lawsuit or another one? If you could give a quick overview on the details on the lawsuit that would be great, but if not, I understand, thanks!
