I really don't agree with the writer's angle here. I loved seeing the Dead. Maybe since I'm 40 and my first show was the Spring of 90 and IMO they eeked out one more semi great year after that, I see it differently , but there was never anything but a great time and great music to me.

Yes the sub culture thing was fun but in no way did I ever see it as religious. From what I gather, the band hated this kind of talk also.

It's probably worth another thread but I read this article after the Dead one and this writer also seems to be reaching a bit but I agree with him. This singer John McCauley is the real deal. Very into his songs right now...
