As you all know, we are rapidly approaching a sad anniversary here.
Hard to believe it's been almost a year since we lost Buppalo..
We were trying to find a way to honor him and do something for the community and we think we have a pretty cool deal going..
this saturday, aug 24th, we are holding a fundraiser here in Gadsden,Al to raise money for needy children to get musical lessons here in Randy's name.

The great part is, you can donate online DIRECTLY to the cultural arts center in Randy's name..

you will know EXACTLY where your money is going..
This is the first of what will be an annual event to honor the memory of Randy Stephens, a long time supporter of local, regional and national music in Gadsden, Al.
Randy was responsible for changing lives and bringing joy to countless people both in and around Gadsden and the world and we are asking that you help us honor him by giving the gift of music lessons to needy students in Gadsden.
The live event will feature music by POE, Superskunk, The Jess Goggans Band and the The Lefty Collins Band and we will be accepting donations at the event in the form of cash or checks, all of which will be turned over to the Cultural Arts Center on the spot.
You can also make donations online DIRECTLY to the scholarship fund by doing the following;
1) Click on this link; http://tinyurl.com/randyjam
2)Under donations, you will find a special tab for the Randy Jam.
3) just put in the amount you would like to contribute and give your Credit card information and you are done !!

We really want to show this community, Randy's family and his many friends just what kind of an impact he had on so many of us with his love of music and his love of Gadsden.

These scholarships will benefit students who can not afford the lessons and I can assure you that they DO go to those in need.

What a way to honor Randy !!!

please help and please spread the word and share this with AS MANY FOLKS AS YOU CAN !

Way to be, Lefty! Great idea all around!

Donna and I won't be able to make the show (Donna's niece's wedding day!), but we'll certainly add to the fund.

What a wonderful tribute to perhaps the warmest, nicest guy who ever graced this fine website! I miss Randy every day!

Hopefully, we will have T-shirts by the event date and anyone who wants one will be able to contact me in the future for one or two...

All proceeds will to go to the scholarship fund

What better way is there to honor someone who loved and promoted music than a fundraiser for local music scholarships?

The Hardin Center on Saturday will host “Randy Jam,” which organizers say will be the first in a series of annual fundraising concerts in honor of Randy Stephens, a financial adviser who was active in the local music scene until his death last year.

The concert is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Funds raised at the concert will go toward music scholarships for the Gadsden Community School for the Arts.

“Randy was responsible for changing lives and bringing joy to countless people both in and around Gadsden and the world, and we are asking that you help us honor him by giving the gift of music lessons to needy students in Gadsden,” said Bobby Welch, executive director of the Hardin Center.

The concert will feature music by POE, Superskunk, the Jess Goggans Band and the Lefty Collins Band.

Collins, who is organizing the event, said Stephens loved music and Gadsden, and was an “ambassador” for music.

He said Stephens was instrumental in bringing many artists to Gadsden to perform, including him. “He recruited musicians to play and he also recruited people to come and watch the shows,” he said.

Collins said after Stephens died, he wanted to come up with a “permanent memorial” to him. “What better way than to provide funding for scholarships to music students here in Gadsden,” he said. “I think it’s a great thing to do for him. I think he would absolutely approve of it.”

Collins said guest artists also are set to appear, and there will be both an “acoustic corner” and an electric stage.

‘Everybody’s going to be mixing and jamming together, too,” he said.

There is no admission charge, but donations of both cash and checks will be accepted.

“Our goal is to try to help kids that are less fortunate and would not be able to have the lessons have access to learn how to play music and keep music alive in Gadsden,” Collins said.

Donations also can be made online at http://tinyurl.com/randyjam. Under “donations” there is a line for “Randy Jam.”

Incredible night of music in Gadsden, Alabama as usual on yesterday evening !! Blended stage almost the entire night. Musicians going back and forth and smiling... It doesn't get any better than this. Randy Stephens would have approved....

If you haven't donated to the scholarship fund in Randy's memory, please consider doing so.....

To contribute to the scholarship fund, here is the link....http://tinyurl.com/randyjam
Thanks !!!!

It is so great to see Randy remembered and thought of so often by so many.

The show by Lefty and friends is the tip of the iceberg. Randy's name came up often at last weeks Dickey show in Atlanta. I've seen several cite their own remembrances in the various threads on last nights Allman Brothers show.

Donna and I had the incredible good fortune to happen through Gadsden just 2 days before Randy's very untimely passing. We had lunch and laughs and parted with sweet hugs. It is a great last memory for us.

I think about Randy literally every day. I miss him.
