Tyler's Taproom is a favorite watering hole, in the American tobacco complex, about a 5 min walk from DPAC. There's a Mellow Mushroom and some other restaurants there, also.

There is also a newer place that's kind of cool called Tobacco Road (sense a theme?)... It's closer to DPAC, built overlooking the Bulls ballpark. Their terrace is on top of the outfield wall, people sit there with their beer & their glove.

Tobacco Road is great. I was afraid it would be cookie-cutter and crappy. It was a bit cookie cutter, but I think the food is fantastic (for an upscale-ish sports bar) and they have a very good beer selection.

Tobacco Road it is then, if my concert buddy and I arrive early enough, this is where we will attempt to go to. See you there.

We will be in town early. We'll be hanging out in the lobby of The Commodore Hotel... er, The Marriott City Center. Easy walk to Tobacco Road and DPAC.

For baseball/movie fans, what shows on Google maps as the Durham Athletic Park is the original 1926 Durham Bulls ballpark as featured in the movie Bull Durham!

That's funny. You can expect one of the greatest rock and roll shows you'll ever see (in my humble opinion). Seeing Mule for the first time a couple of years ago changed my life--I've known and seen Warren with the brothers for years, but Mule is very special as well. Expect to get 2 sets that will kick you right in the teeth followed by a great encore with perhaps a guest or two. My last couple of mule shows were approximately 3-hour extravaganza's--if you're getting old like me just don't expect to get out before bed time.

We're going to Bowling Green tonight--will gladly provide a report tomorrow if anyone is interested.

DPAC is a gorgeous venue! I was privileged to stand (not playing--it was the afternoon) on their stage once. Yeah!

Yes, it's a great place to see a concert! They are very, very serious about their camera policy, though...

DPAC is a great venue. I saw Steely Dan there a couple of times and the acoustics are awesome. Have fun. Wish I could be there.

You folks are in for a great treat tonight! Bowling green last night set 1 started about 8:15. Show ended about 11:30ish, so about 3 full hours of the mule considering a 15 minute set break.

Highlights included "Stay with me" (Rod Stewart I think recorded this with Faces) including special guests from KY Headhunters, as well as the encore.

I don't understand why no one was standing. Maybe the nature of these newer performing arts centers. Of course, it's an interesting dynamic to see Mule in a smaller town where you get a lot of the locals and people from around the area who don't get a lot of shows that close to home--then there's a few of the folks that tour around a bit like we do. Really fun--I wish Durham was a bit closer and we would have made the drive. I think we'll try to get to Charleston at end of the month.

Anyway, one fella kept walking up and standing in front of Warren a couple of times throughout the show. It was pretty obvious, since no one was standing up in front. So, security keeps asking him back to his seat. Well, lots of people start standing up during Soulshine and the gentlemen reappears--He kicks his leg up and hops on the stage, walks over and gives Warren a great big kiss on the cheek (Warren, as usual was extremely gracious), then he hops off the stage and walks back to his seat--no harm no foul. About 2 minutes later we see the same dude do the same trick--as soon as I saw him walking down I thought "don't press your luck". Sure enough, next thing I know he's right back up on the stage giving Warren another kiss--only to be escorted away by security. Anyway, a classic moment.

Hope y'all enjoy tonight! These guys friggin ROCK!

Really enjoyed the show. Much harder rocking than I expected and I was cool with that. In the past 12 months I have seen DB & GS, TTB, Gregg Allman Band, and now Mule. Enjoyed all immensely.

On Kind of Bird did he work in some Elizabeth Reed (I may be wrong)

Stratus (the Billy Cobham song) absolutely kicked ass! I'll be buying the Mule Tracks just to hear Drums>Stratus>Kind Of Bird over and over.
