......It was 43 years ago tonight that the ABB played the first of three nights at the former Village East Theatre, renamed Bill Graham's Fillmore East. The resulting shows and tapes led to the greatest live album EVER recorded!!!

In recent years the band has marked the anniversary of the Fillmore album on the 12th or 13th. They did play the venue on the 11th, but they didn't use any of the material recorded that night. One of the sets included guest appearances from horn players, and Tom Dowd thought they sounded terrible.

Yea, but only on anniversary occasions. 43rd anniversary isn't really screaming play the album. I expect the Juke Horns on Tues and Wed.

Hopefully horns/guests & the like are minimal -- sounds like they're killin' it with this band-only approach in setlist/musicians etc. -- what a band
The Brothers rock

I agree, minimal horn and minimal John Popper is ideal.

I would say very minimal horn and NO John Popper! Keep those harps in your ammo belt buddy! Bring out Tom Doucette for some ABB harp!

If you listen REAL close to Hot'lanta on AFE, you can hear a little saxophone.

You can hear it on the 1992 [fillmore concerts] reissue.

I thought there were plans to release all the shows from that weekend in a complete set.
