Paul Goddard passed away this morning, one of the greatest bass players ever, those classic ARS tunes with his Rickenbacker bass weaving in and out of Robert Nix's drums was just great. And his solos, man, Another Man's Woman, Champagne Jam, Angel, God speed Paul.

Sad to hear. Atlanta Rhythm Section is one of the most under-rated bands in the world. I'd label that as "in my opinion", but I believe it to be fact. They were miles ahead of most of the "southern rock" acts in terms of talent and technique. Paul was certainly an amazing bassist! That lick in the middle break of "Angel" is just one of my favorite moments in pop/rock music! God rest ye Paul.

He was a great picker, and a friendly guy with a great sense of humor.

Has anybody got a link to his obituary notice? I've been Googleing since this was posted and I can't find anything in the news.

Hey Rusty, a mutual friend called and told me yesterday, and it is all over Facebook. Here is Paul's last post (Etoy was his handle on there) from 2 weeks ago. I do know he had been moved to hospice in the past few days per his sister.

Hey folks. I think that I owe you an explanation as to why I HAVE disappeared from Facebook.. I am pretty sick right now with a problem called "pleurisy!. It is a condition that surrounds your lungs with liquid which doesn't allow you to breathe. The problem is, when you drain the fluid out, ,the cavity refills itself I'll be at Emory Johns Creek almost all day tomorrow. I wish it was better news but it ain't. This sure isn't fun.

Got to agree with your post, Rusty.

Great bass player now reunited with Ronnie Hammond (tremendous vocalist). Miss those guys. They put out so many good songs - ahead of the times. Barry Bailey - a top notch guitar player. I saw them mucho times, & always a good concert.

Drummer Robert Nix passed away 2 years ago as well.
