This could be the last big sale date for the band as we know them. Good luck to all of the real fans who want to go.

I expended a lot of time, effort and frustration on Wednesday trying to get FAN pre-sale tickets. Not only did my efforts prove fruitless - they were compounded when I saw that HUNDREDS of tickets - tickets designated for a FAN PRE-SALE were already available on the site of a legal ticket scalper.

Yeah, I was pretty livid. I made every reasonable effort to make an HONEST ticket purchase. I was not looking to horde a bunch of tickets so that I could make a fast cash turnaround on them. I was looking for two tickets to attend the show on.

At first, I tried to take it in stride. I posted humorous comments about sitting at the computer hitting the RETRY button when I had to urinate badly. I compared myself to the Seinfeld character, George Costanza - who never seemed to get any respect or win in life.

When I saw that the tickets earmarked for FANS had somehow made their way to the legal scalper site (I won't even mention their name anymore), I kinda snapped.

Later that evening I read a post by brother Lefty. Lefty has it all in the proper perspective.

In short, Lefty realizes that the effort might not only be futile but the notion of being part of the "last" show is somewhat meaningless when put into perspective.

Lefty points out that we FANS have always been a part of the story and legacy of the Allman Brother's Band. We have experienced their music in our hearts and souls. Through their music - and this incredibly fine website (thank you again, Land and Rowland!) we have been rewarded with true friendships. The music and the band have touched our souls on numerous occasions.

To digress only slightly, I remember a time when I was sitting in a bar and a fellow patron bragged about having attended the Muhammad Ali - Michael Spinks fight in New Orleans. Another fellow down the bar one-upped the guy: "I saw him fight Sonny Liston the second time around!".

No, I will not be at that "final" show. But as a curious 12 year old boy, I saw the original line-up in Piedmont Park. I saw one of the last shows by the "Five Man Band" line-up. I saw them with Chuck Leavell and Lamar Williams. I saw Gregg on tour behind the "Laid Back" album and I saw Dickey Betts tour in support of "Highway Call".

I've mentioned several times that each incarnation of the band has its own relevance and magic. I do not dismiss the current line-up. In fact, I honestly believe that this one might be the finest.

And although I come up with a different count each time I try to remember the exact number of shows that I've seen over the years, the number seems to always be between 85-90.

At the last Beacon run (this past March), I witnessed Lefty and Leeann make a heartwarming display of human kindness. We had just finished a meal at a popular deli. Lefty and Leeann took a large leftover portion out in a bag with them. When we got out onto the street, they spied a homeless person leaning against a wall - all of his belongings right there with him.

Leeann walked over and handed the bag of food to the man and offered that he might "have a nice day!". I was touched.

So last night, I was reading the paper and saw that the local Salvation Army shelter (Brunswick, GA) has run out of food and supplies to assist the local homeless.

Lefty and Leean's gesture came to mind.

It dawned on me - I can get on this computer and spend 2 hours trying to outwit scalpers so that I can pay upwards of $225.00 (X 2) for tickets to see a band that I've seen close to 100 times ... or I can take that same money and do something incredible with it.

I hope that all who attend the shows in October have a wonderful time and experience an incredible night of music and friendship. I know you will.

No luck here either. For either show.

Some of the phrases I had to type into the catchpha were "heartache" and "deals & steals".

Those words sum up the band and their supposed "last" Beacon run perfectly.

I got the same thing on two different computers using two different TM accounts. I then decided why even waste the time and logged out of TM.

That's actually quite true. A pair of tickets are going for what could be six months with of mortgage payments. I'd like to meet the person who paid $10,000 for a pair of tickets. I can't imagine too many long time fans could even think of it

I came late to the Ticketbastard party today, 10:05 - have been trying since and nada. It's ok - I am blessed to be going to 2 shows in October (the postponed "anniversary" and "last show"), so I feel ok.

Then I read Rusty's post - missed Lefty's - but yup, all things in perspective...here's hoping it gets played live, like Wanee and Mountain Jam.

I'm still gonna hit the TM find tix here and there though

Oh - and can I just say I HATE CAPTCHA

All that CAPTCHA does is slow the process. It doesn't stop people from scalping at all

Hey I got lucky I got a single for the 28th last row of loge J. I had 2 browsers going. Explorer is the one that got me the seat. Chrome gave me the 15 minute wait a few times. If it does that your a in a loop re-up an start over.

On the band's facebook page people are posting about how they are mad about how the band did not play at MSG or a larger venue, and they or their management sold lots of tickets to scalpers/scalping companies.

I did the same and threw in the towel. If I couldn't get anything during the presale, it was slim to none for today.

If you got tickets for Tuesday, it's akin to getting tickets to the Super Bowl when you consider:

- Everyone was gunning for 2 shows rather than the usual 10-15 Beacon shows (and 25:75 Monday v. Tuesday)
- There were probably fewer tickets even available for the Tuesday night show, since I imagine, like Super Bowl tickets, a lot of them had already gone around to people either in, or who have friends in, the music/ticket industry.

Hopefully each of these shows are truly special and Gregg stays healthy in the mean time, for himself and for all of the fans who are attending. I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Saturday show (last March's "last show"), so not getting tickets (and paying the jacked up prices to) the final show wasn't a huge deal. That's a lot more than a lot of people got this year. The silver lining is it reminded me of the Jaimoe show on Saturday, so I did pick up tickets to that and don't feel at all disappointed. Really looking forward to it.

I searched for a pair on Tuesday 28th for about 5 minutes. Nothing of course. Then switched to searching for single and about 15 minutes later I bought the first and only ticket I was ever offered, a lower Balcony seat.

I've never had 15 minute wait times. I use firefox, maybe our ISP speed is faster. But I am typically able to search several times in one minute and just do it over and over and over until something, this time it was 20 minutes, so I searched probably about 60 times or so, had to reenter a securing phrase a few times.

The scalping companies like Stubhub, etc. have them.

You can thank the band and/or their management for this.

Here's hoping!!! I think what I may do instead, is get a hotel room in the City (from NJ - a train ride or drive away) - and do the whole aftershow gig thingy at Lucille's.

Hell, maybe we will get lucky and get another HTN party of it - "for the fans"
