Is the 28th the ABB's last show, or just the last show at the Beacon? Has there been an official word from the band that this is truly their last show? There is still 2 more months left in 2014...plenty of time to add a few arena shows or a New Years Run.

I was lucky enough to score 2 tickets through the presale from TM for the 28th. If it is truly the end of the line, I feel like I have won the lottery.

Darned if I know. I was fortunate enough to procure tickets also (thank you, Rowland and Lana!) but at this stage of the game we don't know if this is the last show, one of the shows before this will be the last show (Heaven forfend), this show will be postponed, and/or yet more dates will be added after this show. I'm just happy to see them, whatever show this is.

No it will not be the last show. I would expect a special Wanee or Peach Festival appearance in 2015.

I don't think there is much chance this version of the ABB will play after 2014.

But why are you so certain about an Xmas Jam appearance? I've not checked schedules, and I'm certainly not over optimistic... but you seem certain, why?

they have said they would leave the door open. I am sure Wanee and Peachfest would have Gov't Mule and TTB playing at it next year. They are already there I could easily see a few one off performances if Gregg, Jaimoe and Butch's health holds up.

I'm sure there will be reunions...I just want to be at the last show of the Allman Brothers Band, doing full sets in all their glory....15 min jam after 15 min jam....with a few special friends.

Can't wait!

As said, here is the home page language:

The ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND have announced the on-sale information for the final shows for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group that formed in 1969. Tickets for their October 27 and 28 performances at New York City’s Beacon Theatre will go on sale to the public Friday, July 11 at 10:00 AM Eastern. These final ABB performances bring the band full circle back to the Beacon, a venue the band has played exactly 232 times since their annual tradition began there in 1989.

I read this as being definitive that the 28th will be the finale for the ABB. They could change their mind off in the future (2015 and beyond), but that is only wishful thinking at this point.

Exactly. We don't know what all the splinter bands (Mule, WHB, TTB, ARU, etc etc) plans are for the rest of the year. Mule usually does a Philly/NY run end of year, TTB NYE Florida close to home. Warren usually had December busy with Xmas Jam etc.

BS We DO know the answer. The original question posted was whether there was official word from the band that the 28th is the last show and the answer to that is YES.

Gregg's health issues would've derailed the plans anyway, but what might've otherwise been a triiumphant farewell including Beacon, a summer shed tour, festivals and some sort of finale has just turned into the saddest series of events this side of the Who and their 'farewell' tour sponsored by Schlitz beer--whoever couldn't or wouldn't make plans accordingly for ABB did themselves and the group's legacy a massive disservice and thought it's been said before it's worth saying again: Duane and Berry would be ashamed at how it's played out

Duane and Berry were young men when they dies; they unfortunately never got to experience the perspective of aging. I deplore the money grubbing aspects of this "ending" but they are somewhat inexorably intertwined with the not wanting to retire just because you're old aspects. Gregg is starting to look like Willie Mays did tripping in the outfield in the 1973 World Series. Both are painful reminders to me of the impermanence of youth.

SAY Hey Gregg!!
