Just watched/listened to WP from last night...

I'm in tears...my life has had alot of loss these few years with my mom, dad, mother in law and brother in law passing away.

I never thought this would affect me as it is...

This is a great loss...the Brothers are a part of my life since 1971 and I've seen them well over 100 times...I realized that when trying to count shows for another thread...my wife thought my math was off, reviewed my numbers and told me its way more than I thought.

But,it's not only the shows...it's the whole deal, the music, the people, having the music blast through my home...my wife,kids...it's like a part of our lives...

So losing this band, this massive force of energy in my life feels profound..

I don't have a ticket for tonight, but I'm working on it and will pay stub hub price to get in....since I'm out of town today,I'm hoping my good buddy might help secure those stubhub tix.

BTW...of what I heard,Gregg was roaring last night...that just blew me away...

A very happy time, for I am so grateful to have had this band in my life...so many many emotions..

In the car, we were playing Revival off First Set and Midnight Rider off Live at the Beacon Theatre last night and I was telling my 11 year old daughter and 12 year old son that today was the final day for the ABB. They've grown up knowing the ABB was a big part of my life and they know Blue Sky is their mom's favorite song etc.

I took their older brother (now 14 year old) with me to the Macon show in 2011. I messed up last Labor Day and didn't take all the kids, because it was a school night and I had planned/hoped to do it this year thinking I'd have a chance. After all of those years of never assuming the ABB were more than a year to year affair, I assumed year 45 would look at least like last year. Turns out last Labor Day was an amazing show and kind of perfect for a first ABB show (was my wife's first after seeing Gregg & Friends, Jaimoe's Jassz Band and TTB).

My 12 year old jokes "so are we heading to the airport Dad?" and then says "I wish their last show was in Atlanta so we could all go." I almost starting crying in the car!

For me, this is a day to celebrate the music and just reminice about the incredible family I have met on this site since 97 when all we had was the guestbook to chat with. To the first get togethers at the Beacon hotel and the mega blowout last party at the Beacon hotel. And on and on. memories that i will cherish forever. we will always have the live recordings to keep us warm at night and as for the people, well we just need to make sure the road does goes on forever.

As the man says, Y'all a great bunch!

Wonderful posts all around showing the same loyal cool fans that's been there all along -- will always be hearing new stuff in their music, esp the post-2009 shows that need familiarizing with & this amazing finish-line Beacon run
these guys have left it all out there for 45 years -- they can't be topped
