Interesting new regulations from the Obama Administration that would force communities to diversify to the government's liking. Apparently, no lessons were learned from previous ill-advised government meddling in the housing sector...

An op ed piece written by Bush and Rumsfelds former speech writer. There's a surprise

Zeroing in on the author indicates that you don't favor the policy? Just a guess.

Getting a good education and working hard for what you earn are concepts foreign to Obama’s social justice and engineering agenda.

Yea, that’s what we need, The Government deciding the racial makeup of neighborhoods. I’m sure that will work. It is already working out so well in the inner cities run by the Democrats.

Even better:
“Department of Housing and Urban Development to issue a new rule called Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing”

HUD? The most incompetent and inept Federal agency.
Affirmatively? Yea, another affirmative action program to force discrimination against working people that will now have to also pay for a program that is designed to lower the standards of civilized communities.

You have to love the names the Obama administration chooses like the Affordable Care Act which is neither affordable and provides no care.

I zero in on the author to show it is an opinion piece, not fact, written by a conservative who regularly distorts the truth to bash Obama. Come to think of it much like you and the other conservatives here do on a regualr basis.

The stated purpose of the HUD study was to use the data to influence local officials to loosen zoning laws and build more public housing, thereby offering more poor inner-city minorities better opportunities for housing and education. But of course conservatives haters like to twist anything Obama proposes to create false hysteria.

The evil socialist POTUS strikes again trying to force us to try to improve the living conditions of the poor. Oh My!!!

This is really weird. The AFFH has launched a website based only on an "opinion piece" written by a former Bush/Rumsfeld speechwriter...

In recent years I have not done a good job selecting my neighbors. Maybe the gov't could do better.

Since when has the free market not had a hand in the housing sector?

My Mother has been a volunteer executive board member of HUD in Georgia for the last five years. They have done some great work.

You know Mule, calling every Federal agency "the most inept" kinda signifies how totally clueless you really are. Not that anyone who reads your posts needs another signifier.

“offering more poor inner-city minorities better opportunities for housing and education”

Yea, right. The liberals have done so well over the last 50 years with social engineering and running the cities; let’s now go screw up the suburbs too!

I’m sure the Democrats love this plan as long as someone else has to pay for it.

WTF? How does that answer the question? You imply that the free market doesn't influence the housing sector. A completely idiotic statement unsupported by reality.

I'll ask again - Since when has the free market not had a hand in the housing sector?

Force is a pretty good word for it. Did you ever stop and think that citizens, both rich and poor, would choose to live around one's of similar circumstance? Nooo, can't have that. That should be for the government to decide!

“calling every Federal agency "the most inept"
I didn’t say that. I did say that HUD was the most incompetent and inept Federal agency.
You would do much better if you actually read all the words written.

HUD is known by that label in this town by every professional organization; they are a joke.

HUD took over the public housing management of The City of Detroit in 2008 and in less than two years 40 square miles of that hellhole was declared a disaster area and has to be bulldozed into the ground.

Up next is Chicago’s District O in the South Side.
Rahm Emanuel has officially requested HUD to take over that ghetto. Crime has gotten so bad there the police department will not respond to 911 calls.

Why should I answer a question asking for an explanation for something I didn't say? I never said the free market hasn't had a "hand" in or influence the housing sector. That's something you dreamed up.

You could trade residents of Detroit with residents of Denver and in 10 years they would be screaming that they want in on Detroit. People who work hard will always find a way to prosper, no matter the surroundings.

Sorry, but I'm still not seeing it. Of course, the free market has influence over the housing sector. Kind of goes without saying, which is probably why he avoids the topic of government meddling to point out the blatantly obvious.
