There are more than 5, but just off the top of my head.

1. Rush (Geddy Lee's vocals are nails on a chalkboard to me. Musically in the 70's they were interesting, but once they brought keyboards into the mix their sound matched Lee's voice to me.)
2. Umphreys McGee (Or any jam band who is doesn't seem to have actual songs to jam around.)
3. Steely Dan
4. Fleetwood Mac (post Peter Green)
5. Tom Waits (good songs, but I can't get past the vocals.)

I could probably do a top 50 with this one, but here are 5 of the biggest names in no particular order...

Bruce Springsteen
Phish
Unphrey's McGee
Dave Matthews Band
Joe Bonamassa

Judging by some of the previous posts, I'm not alone.

Well as long as we are being brutally honest:

TTB - with Susan doing the majority of the singing, the songs are starting to all sound alike to me.

In total agreement on Rush...... Geddy Lee's voice kills me!

I can list many more than 5 but here goes...

1. U2 ( Bono drives me nuts.....and needs to get over himself.)
2. Phish
3. J Bonamassa
4. Springsteen ( I grew up near the Jersey shore and was into his music for a while, now it just flat out bores me, a friend of mines brother was his road manager for some time, the champion of the working man is a phoney. My friends brother had to sue the "Boss" over employment issues the matter was settled for an undisclosed amount.
5. Dead

1 - The Eagles ( I hate the **** ing Eagles)
2 - Pink Floyd (partly because I hated Uma-Guma and the early stuff a lot
3 - TTB (I sill say I love the parts - hate the whole)
4 - Steely Dan (just too cold for me - only concert that both my son and I ever left (after it was over) and both said what?
5 - Zeppelin - I sort of like them but something always kept me from embracing them

I was listening to Let Me Get By as I was driving this morning and the exact same thought came to me. I'm a big fan of TTB and to see them live is a joy, but this album sounds to me like they just mailed it in.

Zillions of acts that I don't get, probably 99.99999 % of all music ever recorded, so trying to attack this question from the angle of "music that I just can't see how ANYONE could get..." and instantly am experiencing another one of those sinking moments of challenged faith in humanity as it dawns on me that it is all too easy to understand why people listen to everything....

Gimme an F. I can't answer this one.

good topic.

1) Bonnomassa. I love the blues and guitar. Something just leaves me cold about him. Like Steve Via or Satriani of the blues. Impressive but I don't feel it.

2) Phish. - had some good times at their shows in the early 90's and thought it was cool how they went from college parties to selling out MSG on New Years in a few years with no air play, or MTV, pre internet etc but I just don't find it necessary to pursue their music.

3)Umphrey's McGee. Just don't get them at all. Throw Moe in there with em.

4) Wilco. Don't get what their about but have given them a try. I kind of like Nels Kline though since he added something different to the usual blues battles in ABB beacon sit ins.

5)Ryan Adams. don't like him or his music no matter how many people try to turn me on to him.

If the music is performed live and it's "in the moment".
Then the music has to transport me.
If transportation is achieved, then I'm along for the ride.
I'm always looking for the next ride.
These days I stay local and won't spend lots of money for a ticket.

1. The Who.

2. Nirvana.

3. U2.

4. Jimmy Buffett. Not that I can't stand him, but I cannot understand how people LOOOOOVE him so much.

5. Grateful Dead. Same take as Buffett. I find their music to bore me very quickly.

A person with the name "edge" doesn't like U2? I had to giggle at that! Oh, I heard about the Springsteen story and there's two sides to it. The 20 or so people I've run into that met/know Bruce (granted, none worked for him) tell me the exact opposite--that he's the real deal who still drives his kids to public school while someone like Bon Jovi has his kids chauffered to a private school. Just sayin'..

Hey, we all CAN agree! :-)
