Ever since the squeak of John Bonham's bass drum pedal on Since I've Been Loving You was pointed out to me, now it's all I hear when I listen to the song.

Anyone else have something you can't unhear?

The measure count in the middle of "A Day in the Life". The Beatles weren't sure how to splice the John and Paul parts together, so you can hear someone (Paul, I think? - you can hear it more clearly on the Anthology if memory servers) counting as Ringo keeps time and the strings swirl. Doesn't bother me, it actually makes me appreciate their studio craft and process even more.

Steve Stills's out of tune guitar on Woodstock performance of "Suite Judy Blue Eyes". Saw the movie recently and you can see him wincing and then tries a quick tuning peg turn while playing, which throws it even more out of tune. When the magic wore off way back and I realized how truly atrocious his lead was, I could never listen to it again.

At the end of Blue Sky on Eat A Peach I still say "Very good", even though I think it has been edited out of every version since the original pressing.

"She feels good
she knows she's looking fine"
the voice between those two lines of Good Day Sunshine

same thing as they get into the coda part of Rainmaker, from Low Spark -- Effective -- mayb a voice from the control room saying, jam on -- for that indeed is a Jam

also GrndFnk's Closer To Home -- yes those hidden voices

The splice in "Strawberry Fields" at about 1:03.

They had two versions of the songs. John wanted the first minute of one version, and the last portion of the second version spliced together. George Martin said he couldn't because they were in different meters and different keys. Lennon assured him, "Don't worry, George, you'll think of something!" So he did.

He sped up one version slightly, and slowed down the other slightly. He got them to match, then did the surgery. I find this amazing considering the technology of the time.

Hey Shavian,

Interested in what you mean by this? Are you saying future versions of the same recording were messed with and made the "Duane/Dickey" Blue Sky much worse? If so, what in particular!

Thanks

I used to not mind John Bell's voice, then one day I'd heard enough and decided I didn't care if I ever heard him sing again. But I'm glad I saw WSP open up for the Allmans.
